She also has a few setups that're really left/right confusion. These have to be timed properly in order to actually confuse the enemy, though. Always time the teleport at the same time, even if you move / don't move.

2BA 3D 214A |

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum / Re: Tier List Discussion.
« on: July 23, 2011, 06:20:59 PM »
What is this list based on, and what does each character have (or doesn't have) that places them in that particular tier. I can already tell you that there are a bunch of characters that I disagree with here in terms of placing, but please explain your reasoning for the placement of those characters...

Also, is there any distinction between those listed in one tier??? That is, does Lee's placing in the A tier make him weaker than say, Haohmaru?

I know that tier lists that are based on region since the same character is not gonna be strong everywhere this game is played (i.e. - Kisarah), and there are tiers based strictly on what a character can/can't do per matchup. So I'm gonna ask is this a tier list based on the latter, or is this a Canadian tier list (assuming your in Canada)???
This was a mixture of Japanese and USA tier lists. Which characters in particular should I explain?

Nah. I'd make a matchup chart but I don't know a bunch of character's matchups aside from the ones I play.

My list is fairly matchup based, along with general potential. Worse the matchups, worse the character.

Geese, I really don't get your tier list. Mudman is bottom tier like everywhere, and wait. Lee being top? Lolno. He's great, but his stuff isn't too reliable and he has no legit methods to get out of pressure. I will give him this : He has a fantastic 4-way mixup off resets.

Here is proof she is on vanilla 2002 for the PS2 as was Geese, Shingo, and Goenitz and Geese hands down is the best character in that game outside of Omega Rugal:

I know she was, but the PS2 version is unlikely to actually be played. For standardization, let's assume that the console-only characters in 2002 didn't exist.

Meh. Not many people actually used the PS2 version of vanilla 2002. I'm sure it was probably regular 2002UM.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum / Re: NGBC - Rock Howard
« on: July 23, 2011, 09:12:00 AM »
Rock has at least 5 AA moves, but knowing when to do them depends on the range. That doesn't mean that they're not reliable though. He in no way is worse than Yuki. For starters, Yuki doesn't have many options when he's getting locked down. Sengoku requires too many frames to execute, and the window for the counter is short, unlike Shishioh's counter, or even Rock's counter, which activates instantly. The only downside to Rock's counter is when it's up against multiple hitting moves (MP's 3D) and certain moves that are long range, but have crazy hitboxes, which can make Rock whiff his flip kick. Yuki needs to charge to really be a threat.

Rock's pokes are better than Yuki's!!! You can't tell me that Yuki's 2A is better than Rock's 2A. Rock can combo with his at that!!! Rock's 2B is about even with Yuki's and that's only because Yuki can IAD afterwards, and even that he can get hit out of if telegraphed. Rock has many options from 2B. In the corner, all he needs is 2B to get a good combo in, which I've got footage of.
Rock has meter burning for AA, and his 2~8A/C. Yuki has 6A (Whiff) 3C, 623A, far B, j.C, etc. All of them can be juggled after too.
Who cares about his counter? Also, Yuki's counter is instant.
Yuki doesn't need charge at all aside from MAYBE 22D (lightning) and 22A (projectile).

Yuki's 2B is pretty godtier. Rock's 2D is seriously unsafe compared to Yuki's 2D, which can be cancel'd into a shitton of things. All of Yuki's normals but 5B / 2C / 2A / 2B can be whiffcancel'd. None of Rock's normals can do that. Yuki has a better crossup that's less spacing-specific, projectiles that actually cover space (plus they're invisible and a potential AA). He also has better punishment against things like K's AA with 214C, which combos into pretty much anything. Yuki has better mixups (left / right > high / low), and generally higher damage.

Oh, and you did write that you can corner trap relentlessly. "Rock's strategy is similar to that in "Garou: Mark of the Wolves", which is to corner trap the opponent relentlessly." He lacks the tools to corner trap at all. Whiff cancels and a good AA would be required, which he has neither of.

This has been pissing me off.

Yuki actually has good options, a godly anti-air that combos into everything, advantage against Kim and fairly good combos in general. Rock just sucks. Nako is generally good and has fairly high damage output. BIG has way too many punishable options. Akari has a shitton of frametraps, powerful combos, insanely good pokes, OTG's, parries, an airgrab, and errthing else.

BnB's
2BA 623A
5D 3D 63214[BC] (3 hits) 236236C
(Corner) 5D 3D 63214[BC] (3 hits) 623C 2363214[BD]

-----

Pressure Strings
j.D cl.5A 5C | This can be used in corner for primary pressure, as all of the moves will chain into a form of combo or damage.
j.D cl.5B 6B 5C | Same as above, except more valid in midscreen. Don't cancel into 6B, do a late command normal so it retains the overhead properties. It also pushes you back more and allows the far 5C to work.
cl.5B 41236A 63214A | Total option select, add this during pressure to mix it up a bit. If they block, it'll go to a safe block option, and if they don't, they'll get hit by the proximity unblockable.
cl.5C 6B cl.5B 5C | Cancel into the 6B. Midscreen, forget about the cl.5B. This is probably one of her stronger pressure strings.
cl.5D 3D 5C | This is amazing in the case that you know they like to break it, simply because if any of the attacks actually hit, you get a free MaxMode combo.

-----

Never use double-strike to zone, always use venom strike. Venom strike's recovery is far shorter so jumps / rolls can be punished for the most part.
Her prox unblockable is amazing. Remember to use it to mixup jumpins.

Generally speaking, King can abuse a knockdown to hell with a seriously stupid amount of good mixups. j.D is a fantastic jumpin and j.B is great air-to-air.

Tornado kick can go over many projectiles, learning which ones is probably a good idea.

Krazykone, she wasn't in 2002. How could there be changes unless it was 2002UM -> 2002UMT.

The wiki has a few broken combos.

This combo would never work. 360 + C, (corner) [qcb + A, qcf x2 + A]x2, charge d, u + A/C
It puts them in a no-juggle state after 236236A. You cannot juggle after it no matter what you use.

Also, the wiki is incorrect when it states that he can corner trap effectively. Rock doesn't play like Geese, where he can do frametight corner traps. Rock's way more loose and poke-based. If you do more than poking, he's extremely unsafe with all of his moves on GCFS. I really want to say he's worse than Yuki, simply because Rock has no reliable AA and pokes.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum / Re: NGBC - Asura
« on: July 23, 2011, 03:32:24 AM »
Asura does seem like a threat within range, but once he gets closed in, he's limited to 5B, 2B

I wouldn't call that a limit considering they're fantastic normals that lead to epic high damage combos.

5B 2B (1 hit) 1C 623A 623A 2141236B

Asura's primary issue is forcing the enemy away. Even if he seems like he'd be good with it, his arrows come out slow and the lances take a bit of prediction, and he doesn't have much midscreen aside from his basic juggles.

Wouldn't NJ. A leave you in a extremely punishable position?

You can mid air cancel it with dive kick.

Can you do the dive kick after a ;uf ;a ??

Yes you can!!! After both you can do the dive kick or the twirling mid air punches.

I just tested that a few days ago, and I haven't been able to cancel it into the dive kick. Is there specific timing required, or do I have hold ;up in order for the cancel to work???

If I do manage to get it, I'll post up how it's done... As of now, for the XBLA version, its not possible-- for now...
It's possible, but the j.A has to hit.

Tung's muscleman gets raped by sweeps, projectiles, certain DP's, Ryo's 63214C, and a bunch of other things.

Fuck a Color Edit. Or better yet, give me the option to turn it off.
This.
I despised people in NGBC who would make a character with rainbow skin, pitch black clothes, and a pink outline (or whatever they'd do).

Blah.

The VLX and TE use the same layout.
VLX has way less curvature, which is uncomfortable for many users fingers. Also, the start button should never be right next to the buttons unless it has an off button for the start, which it doesn't. Oh, and why is the headset port on the front? WORST LAYOUT EVER.

The only difference between a VLX and a TE, aside from the fact that the VLX is ugly as shit, and twice the price is the fact that the VLX can be opened up easier. It still breaks the warranty doing that. From the official site. "HORI is not responsible for any damages or failure to the product or parts if customized or if the top plate has been opened."

VLX. You pay for a quick-open modification panel that still breaks the warranty, a shitty layout, oversized body, and Sanwa parts.

Yup, you lose your drive if you die in HD.
Damn, it's not like MB's MAX where death gives you a bit back. :3
