General Fighting Game Discussion / Battle Arena Toshinden

Anyone remember this classic? Sad that it stopped at Battle Arena Toshinden 4 (1999). Well they "remade" it for the Wii but as far as i've heard it bears nothing close to the original sadly. The Gameboy port for Battle Arena Toshinden was splendid and i hammered the hell out of it.

Had some funky music to it too

Ellis' Theme
Veil's Theme
Duke's theme (my fav)

My fav character has to be either Duke, Sho or Veil.

I'll tell you guys when the Ban has been lifted. Till then -> Practice mode :o

So I just wanted to give people who get freezes sometimes while in online matchmaking a heads up (player or ranked doesn't matter, it was player for me), don't press Alt+F4 as it will recognize it as a Rage Quit. If you do this freely each time the game freezes up and "Synchronizing" doesn't appear you will eventually, just like me, get banned.

The guy i was playing with told me that that happened to him too once, and that he was told to instead press "Alt+Enter" to minimize the screen and click on the Red "X" instead of Alt+F4. That way it wouldn't register as a rage quit while freezing. EDIT: Banned again, March 19th 2015 around 5 PM, same BS game froze for 10 mins, tried the "safe" version and still got banned. Don't. Leave. Period.

Unbanned 3 days later, the ban seems to be at 3 days for anyone wondering.

He also said it could take up to 30 days, so be wary... :O

For anyone wanting to test their luck

Welcome to Dream Cancel.

Even though it's for necessity, I applaud you as a keyboard player. If you've got the three KOF's on Steam, hope that's fun to play, or that you find a good stick or pad to play with later.
At first i also intented to get a Joystick ASAP, but now I'm moderately good with the keyboard. HD combo's are a pain to pull of with it though. Funny enough Kim is the character I'm most familiar with, but his Hienzan / Hangetsuzan HD cancel before the Hangetsuzan hits is near impossible to me. (Trial #8 >:( )

Also, thanks!

For Keyboard User's having trouble with "qcf~hcb", try "qcf~qcb". Work's for me. (Saiki's Neo Max for example)

So people, I'm one of the new additions!

My first experiences with fighting games came from the Arcades / NES / SNES from the mid 90's (Fatal Fury / Killer Instinct / Samurai Shodown / Mortal Kombat / Street Fighter II / Battle Arena Toshinden etc.)
I always loved the competitive nature and fun you could have with these (or teeth grinding, looking at you Bison / Eyedol!). I used to live in the states but i moved to Germany in 1997 (born 1990), basically since then i rarely had the opportunity to visit any arcades or get involved with any sort of game community except for online rpg's so i kind of took a vacation from fighting games... before i got into MMORPG'S however, i found my long lost love again... Beat 'em ups! Tekken / Dead or Alive / Bloody Roar you name it! Unfortunately the online thing wasn't that present around the beginning of the 2000's so i carried on...

Now I'm back playing and LOVING King of Fighters XIII! There are a few characters i recognize like Terry, Andy, Mai and Billy From Fatal Fury? and Kyo, Ash and Iori from the Anime.

As is i'm stuck to using a Keyboard for Controls but i won't let that keep me down! I hope we can play together and enjoy ourselves. Until then, let's sin ;)

P.S.: Read the Forum rules and i'm sorry I'm not from the U.S. :p

Hey guys, thought i'd throw in one of my own for Nostalgia value. Anyone with a broad knowledge of Fighting Games should recognize this bad boy...

Don't recognize him?

It's Shenlong from Bloody Roar![/spoiler]

Just recently started playing KoF after I first saw it when I was a child (fatal fury time'ish), needless to say I'm hooked but I'm not too good at the moment. Got Voice and speak fluent English and just joined the Steam group too! :D
