Yeah I think those were the ones.

Also not KOF, but closely related, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum on PS2 had some awful slowdown on the Dragon Sage.

It's SvC Plus Bootleg, it has the hidden characters available, but not the bosses. Also Geese is completely mute lol.

The interface is pretty similar to how GGPO's was, but you got alot more options to work with.

Online Matchmaking / Fightcade

Fightcade.com

Fightcade is a new online gaming networking platform based on GGPO that offers a much bigger game libary, including much requested classics like The King Of Fighters 1995, Karnov's Revenge, World Heroes, and the Real Bout Fatal Fury series, it even has hot garbage like SNK vs Capcom Chaos. With the original GGPO having alot of downtime lately, and also the possibility of SuperArcade shutting down, this is the next best thing.

Spread the word about it, it's still very new, and not alot of people are aware of it yet. I'll also be down for matches with anybody here, especially in Real Bout 2.

General Discussion / Re: The King of Fighters XIII Video Thread
« on: November 08, 2014, 09:59:17 PM »
I hate to say it, but this site has been on it's death bed for ages. It was very lively back in 2010-2012, but it's been dying for the last two years. Look at the sorry state it's in right now. People used to come to this site to discuss all SNK games. But ya know, once XIII was released on console, for a long time KOFXIII was the only game that got any attention. Since KOFXIII's first splash at Evo, it's been slowly dissolving, especially in the last year.

KOFXIII has become extremely dull, and SNK Playmore is not supporting the game or it's community at all.

he's been nothing but a troll.

Yeah, I get it man: you like how KOF used to be in the past. But that's exactly what it is: the past. Get over it!

I'm not a troll, I'm speaking honestly here.

And, sure, I do like how KOF used to be in the past. But just because it's the past doesn't mean I'm gonna forget about it, games like KOF98 were one of the most important fighting games in history. It's the same with alot of fighting games for me, I think alot of the classics are better than the newer games.

Regardless, KOFXIII is done. Best to make one final send off video for it.

I can't really think of any major events that were "exciting" for the game from this year outside of the Cafeid tournament and maybe Evo... but honestly, Evo 2014 was pretty forgettable for KOFXIII to me compared to 2012 and maybe even 2013.

I can't think of any good moments in 2014 for XIII. This game has been zZZZZzZZz all year.

Best Cross-Up
Best Reversal
Best Air-To-Air

I miss when Kyo could just QCF+K, K into Orochinagi and call it a day.  :(

I mean, I guess it might also depend on team position, EX Kyo is a really good point character, he can easily do 50% with just 1 power stock and no drive. He really doesn't need alot of meter to do good damage.

Overall though I think EX Kyo just way better, his normals are all beefier, he gets better damage with much less resources, plus he way more going on for him with the autoguard properties on his moves, plus more invulnerable frames to abuse.

Regular Kyo though... he just eats alot of meter. He'd do better as a 2nd or anchor, but just the amount of meter he needs to do damage on par with EX Kyo is too much. But at least he has a generally pretty simple stun combo.

I'm a bit curious what people see in Regular Kyo over EX Kyo ranking in the tier lists, yet in tournaments Regular Kyo is generally pretty rare.

Based on years of watching competitive KOFXIII tournaments from all over the world.

Alright, here's my tier list -

The top tiers in this game are pretty obvious, that will never change. EX Iori and Mr.Karate are without a doubt the two best characters in the game, pay to win, DLC pain train. I think Kim and EX Kyo are just right under them, Kim is a really stupid anchor character with all the meter, and EX Kyo imo is one of the best point characters in the game, he does almost everything, hell you could put him almost anywhere and he'd do his job well. I mean it's Kyo, what do you expect? As for Claw Iori, despite EX Iori being the more popular choice of Iori, you can't discredit Claw Iori's comeback potential. He's dangerous. I think as an anchor character, he easily rivals Kim.

Benimaru I feel is a really good competitive character with straight forward easy damage output, with probably one of the dumbest j.D's in the game. Shen Woo is the original anchor King in the game, he ain't going anywhere. Hwa Jai? He drinks himself to victory, very easy damage output, and some pretty good normals to go with it. Then there's Takuma... like Iori, his DLC counterpart is more widely used, but regular ol' Takuma is so dominate once he scores a clean hit. He was one of the best characters in the arcade edition, and I think he still is really damn good, despite how much play Mr.Karate gets over him.

When it comes to point characters, King, Duo Lon and Mature are very dominate from what I've observed. King has some of the best zoning in the game imo, Duo Lon is really good at being able to play offensively from different ranges with lots of different setups he has, and Mature's ability to frame trap and pressure her opponents is just really scary. I think Yuri is another very strong anchor character with very easy damage output and very good offensive pressure and mix ups.

I feel Chin has some faults, but his damage potential is too good, and he's proven to be a strongly competitive character, although sometimes I feel like alot of people out there still don't know how to really deal with him. I've yet to understand how to deal with Chin... in any KOF game.

All the characters in A I think are pretty solid and are pretty competitive for the most part, but I don't think Regular Kyo is anywhere near as good as EX Kyo, EX Kyo has all the bells and whistles. Most of the characters in B I feel like can only get by with gimmicks and they aren't consistent enough with getting respectable damage, or in some cases just have really low damage output, and have to spend alot more meter to get reasonable damage. Then there's Maxima... he can do damage, but he has so much trouble opening opponents up.

As for C... well I think all these characters are mostly Crap. But it's not their fault. It's just KOFXIII isn't a good game for them. Alot of characters are either missing moves, have shitty hitboxes, damage is low, damage scaling is really bad for them. You know how it is. I feel the worst for Betty though.

Feel free to rip my shitty tier list for this shitty game to bits though.  ;)

I'm not allowed to dispute it? I mean, there are quite a few things I'd question about that tier list with the placement of a few characters that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

But then again, I don't really care about KOFXIII at all anymore. I think the game is done.

13
I dunno about that tier list.

Why are you necro'ing this old thread?

Nobody in Rochester plays KOF.

Except me.

Classic King of Fighters / Re: 98FE and 02UM Coming to Steam this year
« on: September 10, 2014, 06:21:56 PM »
I'm excited to have both of these games on Steam, especially 98UM Final Edition.

Of course, I want really good netcode for both.

But what I really want to see is a bit of a revival for these games in the competitive scene, and hopefully more activity/discussion on these forums about them.
