i dont really keep up with the resievil timeline much but i didn't see anything that would make me think it took place before resi 5

You wouldn't see it.  Had to hear it.

It takes place 10 Years after the Raccoon City Incident (RCI was in 1998, 2 months after the Mansion incident, same year).  RE5 takes place 11 Years after the Mansion Incident.

Math wise, RCI was in 1998, and RE5 takes place in 2009.  If RE6 takes place 10 years after the RCI, that puts it a year before RE5.

Other things that leave it as a possibility, Chris is a lot less ripped yet still seemingly pissy and downtrodden.

I'd prefer it to be a sequel, especially considering a worldwide conflict going on, ending, then going into RE5 seems meh.  Especially since Sheva seemed shocked by the BOW's...which wouldn't happen if shit was going down worldwide.

Here's the good news for people that absolutely hate anything that happened to RE after 5 (which means they likely also disliked 4).  You can play the old games, which have great replay value, and pretend the new ones never existed.  That's the great thing about games against movies...most are meant to be played multiple times.
