You just need to learn the basics and build up from there; you need time to learn a MOBA game especially DOTA. Just give it some time.

I absolutely LOATHE MOBA games so don't even ask me about it ever.

It's personal preference really. I find that MOBA games are basically made for people that can't handle playing full-on Warcraft 3, but that's beside the point. I find them dreadfully boring and wish the competitive strategy scene wasn't so stale with its choices.
