Greetings from Bahrain
« on: March 07, 2012, 11:56:33 AM »
hey guys,

I've been a lurker in this great forum for quite some time now and at last i'm going to introduce myself. Well I'm a 23 year old male, I come from a small island in the middle east which is called Bahrain, maybe some know it. I've been an avid fan of fighting games through my life but never really got into KoF I was more like a SF fan back then even though that KoF since 94 was really famous here in Bahrain we had a really good arcade scene here, had almost all kind of fighting games. Believe it or not we have pretty good players here.

For me the last great fighting game is SFIII 3rd strike, that's until KoF XIII came along. This game really did revitalize fighting games for me; BB is a good fighting game but didnt really like the cast. When KoF XIII was released it was like the end of a drought, it is for me a revolution since 3rd strike. How did I come to know KoF? my friends are KoF fans since 94 and recently before KoFXIII came out I was playing KoF2002um; from there the love was building up. What I loved most was the mechanics of the game.

Even though KoF XIII is the best fighting game (for me at least) it's dying here in Bahrain; I dont know how it's doing in the Middle East. The reason that it's dying is that we dont have a arcade scene here anymore it's extinct and the netcoding of the game im sorry to say is awful, it's completely unplayable here. The only way we could play here is local games and we have a very social community here in the Middle East but we cant get any experience and we cant grow as fighters like this.

All in all I hope SNK does something about their netcoding because we played BB perfectly I could play against players from all over the world, SSF4 netcode was decent also. Comparing both games to KoF XIII, there is nothing really to compare KoF XIII is by far a better game especially better than SSF4.

Thanks for this great forum and this great community keep KoF alive guys I think it's the future of fighting games.

Welcome Tryant to DC, thanks for the introduction (nice avatar btw)

Heard of Bahrain, but had forgotten where it was in the world. Agree with you on most of your points, especially KOF XIII being the best at least of this generation so far. Hopefully the game, and the scene can somehow thrive in your area too.

We're currently updating and re-doing our online matchmaking listing, so hopefully you'll add your information to the PS3 or 360 version listing, and hope you can something of a decent connection from our community.

Hope being here can be fun and good for leveling up and meeting players.

Hey Tyrant292 welcome to DC!

Great to know that the arcade culture is living large in Bahrain. It's too bad that netplay isn't up to snuff for you guys, but hopefully you guys end up getting Climax as that would be the perfect thing to make the competition real again.

Couldn't agree with u more about XIII - I literally haven't put another disc into my PS3 since the game dropped in Dec - lol

Hope to see you on the threads!

Welcome Tyrant292!!!

I wish I met you when I was there a few years ago... I've been to Bahrain, it's really nice there... The shawarmas are tasty, too!!!

I'm not sure if I still know anyone who works or lives there, but if I do, I'll see that they at the very least try to meet up with you for matches... From my experience, competition is hard to come by around there...

I remember seeing a highway leading to Saudi Arabia (correct me if I'm wrong)... Do you know anyone out there who plays KOF (or any fighter)???

Thanks guys for the nice welcome,

Solidshark:
it seems you have great taste because you like my avatar  ;). Not many people know from where it is or who he is. Well me, my brother and some friends are playing KoF XIII regularly but I dont think the online would work for us here unfortunately; I dont mind trying.

I hope I do have fun here and learn from this great community.

BioBooster:
Yeah me too I didnt change the game since the release  ;). Well I am hoping that SNK will make a good netcode like what BB has.
I will try and contribute in the threads, thanks.

Jinxhand:
You where in Bahrain oohh man when was that I bet it was for the F1; yeah I wish we had met when you where here. Yeah there is a causeway connecting KSA and Bahrain but unfortunately I dont know anyone from there my brother know some people from the UAE.

To say the least fighting games are thriving here in the Middle East, there are players here who play KoF XIII and are really good at it especially in the UAE. Unfortunately its not as popular as SSF4. If they just knew how KoF XIII is a much better game.

I really didnt think that i'd find people here who knew about Hokuto no ken, I'm really awed and happy; it didnt really get any attention in the US and if an anime doesnt get attention in the US most likely it wont do good but Hokuto did well in Europe and Japan. For me Hokuto no Ken is my favorite anime; I like all of the characters I dont think their is anyone you can hate but Souther is my favorite.

This Avatar is from the new OVA(will not really new 2005 it was released) the OVA had really awesome art but some parts of the story was missing; hated that.

Most of us would like to think we know quality, which is exactly what HnK is to me. My favorite has always been that Ken-Raoh-Toki tie. Got some of my KOF characters color cosplaying HnK characters.

Man I'm a Mr.Heart-sized fan of HnK!!! I even love the game, despite it's uber brokeness (the music was great, too!!!)...

I even watched Legends of the Dark King... Yeah man my fav characters are Raoh, Souther(Thouther), Kiba(Fang), and Judah(Yuda)... I also used to play that arcade game (those voices bring back memories) back when I was living in Hawaii (it was right next to our Tekken 5DR and KOF XI machine)...

I had Raiden looking like Raoh, then switched his color scheme to Mr. Heart...

All this HnK talk is hyping me up something fierce right now!!! *starts playing "Ai wo Torimodose"*

Dude, do that! This place is such an awesome place to hang out in! I hardly contribute to anything KOF related 'coz I'm still a casual, but I post a lot anyways because it's fun.

Hi there,

Which system do you play on? If you are playing on PS3, please add me: "Alucard-XII". I live in the UAE. I get excellent matches playing with ppl from Kuwait, KSA and Qatar. I'm sure we can get some excellent matches too.

I mostly play in the afternoon and evening (plus early morning during weekends).
