Hey Dream Cancel community! I'm brand new to KOF. I for some reason cannot wrap my brain around this game, but I'm more than willing to learn. I'm from the SoCal area (Granada Hills, CA).

Can't wait to make this game my main!

Welcome Dezik, to DreamCancel and to KOF. Which parts of the game are you having trouble with, and do you have any other fighting game background? Being in SoCal might have a few offline people or places to hook up at and learn the game too.

This is a great game to main, so enjoy.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I haven't been playing fighting games horribly long, but my background is Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter X Tekken. Fact of the matter is the announcement of 2v2 only SFxTK at evo made me look for a new game to focus on, and though I love Street Fighter, I wanna dive into something new.

The main problem I'm having is the combo system. I feel like it's not exactly links, but also not chains. I also have problems canceling specials into supers. It's probably from not being familiar with the input commands.

I do hope to meet others for some casual matches. I'm also willing to bring a setup, if need be.

If your experience is just those two, you are coming into a faster, more execution-based game, but good fundamentals will be just as important here. With links and chains, it's really going to be a case-by-case basis. If you haven't started with that introductory mode on the game (menu option #1 I think), start there. You've got several types of characters to choose from, including grapplers, shoto (Ryu/Ken esque fighters), charge-characters (Guile/Vega esque), and others.  There a KOF XIII wiki here that's good for game and character info, and also check out the forums for player input on characters.
