Just a FYI, max mode bypass is in the demo despite it may have not been in during previous builds (Frionel mentioned it was not in some time back). Using bypass you can simplify some combos at the cost of some damage, or (the use I am currently searching for more of) use it to confirm off overheads, I E Sylvie f+B, confirm hit, qcf+BCD, qcfx2+p. you get a decent amount of time to confirm for a single hit and if successful you get 413 damage for two meters off confirmed overhead or 385 from max range.

Bypass has been in for a while, I saw someone do it at PAX (which I think had the 9 character build?). They bypassed into Robert's EX tatsu.

Do we know anything about just defend yet? Is it just blockstun reduction? meter gain? blockstun in general doesn't seem too oppressive in this one so not sure how necessary it'd be, but the game is still new and good opponents are hard for me to come by as is.

Am I the only one who thinks that SNK had more fun developing XIV than XIII? I mean marketing is better, musics sound more relaxed, more humor in trailers etc. Maybe everyone were so grumpy making graphics in XIII, which in the end I think they weren't worth the effort.

Yeah obviously this is a very subjective observation, but XIV really feels like it has more "soul". Things feel brighter and more upbeat, less of an emphasis on pure technicality.

XIII had horror stories during development that had public articles around it. Employees being overworked like crazy with little compensation and the dev team was extremely small. I'm guessing anything is probably more fun than that was.

I think they had good intentions with 13 and that they managed to make a great but flawed game. With 14 they gave up on one thing (2d) to achieve a better product overall. I don't think it's nessecarily that they tried harder or anything like that but rather that 3d made things easier.
