The Samurai Shodown discord tried something different this go around. Through vote on the discord we decided to play the Original Samurai Shodown on fightcade. Very fun showing this time around really gave me a new appreciation of the Samurai Shodown 1. Clash can go rot in the ground though really dumb mechanic that did get better with time.
Sugoi sending Beansprouts to losers in a comeback was one of the many highlights this time around. Many thanks to all that made it this time around. Was fun watching and playing a “new” samurai shodown game. Most of us are samurai shodown V special players but have been giving other samurai shodown games a shot (samurai shodown 64 please). We will be back with Moonlight Mayhem our themed tournament usually with a quirky set of rules.
Video of stream
(forgive the audio the technically difficulties end around 44:49)
This week’s Saturday Shodown had some terrific matches all around. We played Samurai Shodown V Special on Fightcade, the rules we had this tournament was 3v3 KOF style meaning that the players would choose 3 characters and when they lose they would rotate to their next character similar to the King of Fighters series.
Appreciation goes to everyone that watched the stream and participated in the tournament.
Next Tournament should be on February 17th Time: Around 2:00PM-3:00 on Fightcade. I will also mention that Samurai Shodown #8 should be a throwback to the original: Samurai Shodown. Newcomers and Veterans are all welcome to join
Although Fightcade gave us some technical difficulties at the start we did manage to play some Samurai Shodown V Special and proceed with the tournament. The rules for this tournament required character lock meaning the participants were allowed to choose only 1 character meaning they were not allowed to switch after losing.
Much appreciated to all that came to play with us and watch the stream we’re an open community that welcomes all no matter the skill level.
We do plan to play some other Samurai Shodown games available on fightcade with the original Samurai Shodown being one that might make it out on the vote on the discord. Get ready to see some clunky Heavy Slashes and Oki setups after dashing throws .
Next Tournament should be on Feburary 3rd Time: TBD
I’d like to introduce Saturday Shodown a Biweekly Tournament held on Fightcade for Samurai Shodown V special hosted by the Samurai Shodown Discord. The tournament welcomes players of all skill level to join in. Players from North America, South America and Europe are allowed to join (Sorry Asia players). Some of our tournaments have special rules such as character lock or 3v3 KOF style tournaments, the rules for the tournaments will usually be on challonge page of the tournament. We are also thinking about the possibility of doing other Samurai Shodown games that are on fightcade. Most of the discussion for the tournaments will be done on our discord and we have a bot that sets reminders on when the next tournament happens. We usually stream it on twitch too
We will be posting tournament results and Youtube VOD on DreamCancel. Feel free to join the discord and ask questions about the game and its mechanics.
On Sunday February 14th will be our 14th steam battle for King of Fighters XIII Steam Edition! We will meet up and play together Sunday at 2pm Central time/3pm Eastern Standard Time! This will be the FINAL steam battle of the Journey To Dream Cancel Cup circuit!
Optional check-in is 30 minutes before the session starts (1:30pm CST, 2:30pm EST) and we will stop collecting scores at 6pm CST/7pm EST.
All players in attendance will play each other in a first to 3 wins set. Everyone will play at the same time. After you have finished playing with one person, move on to the next available player and so on (in the chat say “FREE” when you are available). When you are playing, please try to keep track of your score either through chat reminders or tally marks on pen and paper. Report your final score in the group chat. All players wins will be tallied, ranked and posted at the end.
It is recommended you try to play as many different people as possible, and you are allowed to rematch with previous opponents once.
Quadruple playKOF points will be distributed the top 8!
