Yeah, that's the reason I'm teaching those and not like, SF4 or Marvel. The skills learned transition very well to other fighters. I'm worried they'll get intimidated by the execution barrier though. That's about it. And money :P

doooood My first fighting game *squeals*

I love this game so much better than Marvel 3. The game is a lot less crazy and takes more of a brain. Assists aren't as stupid and a LOT of stuff is unsafe; there's actually risk to throwing crap out. It's the only game I play on the Wii now, really... unfortunately, no one plays it. TvC revival?

It's actually Casshern, but pronounced Casshan. I think the game spelled it wrong... maybe.

The burst system is really interesting, and considering most combos do around 40% of a character's health, you can ignore them entirely... though it's not smart. It's all about resource management, something Marvel doesn't have at all >.< And Baroque is gdlk.

I run Tekkaman Blade/Soki. Crash interlude forever~

So you preferred Clark when his 100% combo was a couple of Gatling Attacks? You know, there's this game called Marvel I think you'd might me interested in...

Nonetheless, I started with XIII, but I took the time to look into older KOFs to appreciate the characters I like to play now. I'm saddened, sure, that many characters lost their moves. I thought Maxima's moveset was lackluster even before I knew about his old one.

However, in the sense of movesets, I kind of understand why they toned down. There's this game out there called Tales of Arc Strife Cadenza, which is a fan made fighting game based off the Tales of series. Take a look at this command list for one character, Yuri Lowell, and you try and guess how many are useful. http://acs.wikia.com/wiki/Command_List:_Yuri_Lowell

Not counting the supers, probably 9.

I think SNK was thinking, "Everything in moderation". And what they had, they made amazing aesthetically, and gameplay wise. Every character is practical and beautifully animated. Less is more, I guess. Ultimately, they wanted something new. Would you rather have KOF be like COD?

And it doesn't "revolve" around loops. The core of KOF is still there.

But, to each their own.

Thanks man. I'm actually starting up a fighting game club here at my high school. Gonna try and teach people KOFXIII and possibly 3rd Strike and Tekken (gotta study up on those...). Hopefully that goes well :3

Yeah, it takes awhile to get stuff down. Don't push yourself too hard. Focus on understanding your normals and specials, and what they do/are useful for. Try learning another character that relies mostly on normals (claw Iori, Daimon, Kyo) sometime later, and try to apply the theory behind those characters to Andy; your success will be great, I'm sure.

Don't give up!

General Discussion / Re: Should I spend time and money on KOF XIII?

Don't worry about a stick, there's no distinct advantages between a pad and stick. It all depends on the user's comfort with the controller.

Stuff you learn in playing KOFXIII and fighting games in general apply in so many places. I understand it's hard to find a scene... but look hard, and if you can't find one, try starting one.

Watch a lot of high level play of these characters! Watch carefully what they're doing. Try to implement stuff form your original team into your new team, and slowly have them mix. You get it eventually. Best rule is, don't give up. :P

Wow, the security is tight here...

My online name is Coliflowerz, please call me either that or Flowerz. People on streams have started calling me Coli, and that's cool and all, but it bothers me for some odd reason... :P

I started playing KOFXIII on the iOS version, and picked up the console version only about half a year ago. My primary team is Kula, Kensou, and Maxima/Claw Iori.

I also play Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, a little bit of SSF4AE, a little bit of UMvC3, and a little bit of P4A. I've been meaning to seriously play Tekkan Tag 2 and 3rd Strike sometime in the future when I get my hands on it.

I'm into anime, drawing, and guitar. I also have done collaboration Let's Play with my friends at HiddenSwitch. Shameless plug incoming... http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYzxVoqmkPYpTiDh7YCzXVw Ok.

Feel free to hit me up about whatever!
