We are alive and quite active. KoF scene is still strong. Great group of players and more than willing to show a n00b like me the ropes.

Regular hookups every Saturday (unless there is a tournament). We do most of our hookup coordinating on the Facebook group though. Check out the thread in the Tournament section for info on this Saturday's tournament. I will try to keep up to date info in that section but the Facebook group has the most current info.

Tuesday is "Top Tier Tuesday", mostly Marvel centric but KoF is usually played too.

I'm gaining more confidence. I still get bopped but I don't have a knot in my stomach when I call next. Getting good tips on diagnosing my problems. A lot is coming down to jitters while playing. Lots of unnecessary button pressing while I'm under pressure. Losing and learning.

After I lost a set to a really good player (no one knocked him off the stick for 3 hours) he explained that I was falling for his K' meaty set up. Pressing a button means I get hit. Then the next set he crossed me up with Iori, a lot. I could tell he it was his way of teaching me to stop the cross up. Eventually I managed to defend against his cross-up. All he did was smile and say "Good". Sometimes subtle teaching is the best.

I'll be entering my first local tournament this Saturday.

I am trying to get my head around input buffering and the button hold trick to make combos easier. I want to apply these to all my characters but for an example I will use King.

I want to apply it to a drive cancel I'm having problems with. I am trying King's mid screen carry combo that ends with this df.D, Trapshot [DC] (B)Tornado Kick, (D)Tornado Kick I have problems consistently timing the cancel from Trapshot to (B)Tornado Kick. When I do get it off I also cannot consistently time the (D)Tornado kick follow up.

If I'm understanding the buffering and button hold trick I can do Trapshot then immediately press and hold  ;b then buffer  ;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk for the drive cancel? Then while King is still in the air, hold  ;d  then  buffer  ;fd ;df ;dn ;db ;bk and (D)Tornado kick will come out as soon as I hit the ground?

Anyone have a good link to some High Res KoF artwork. I'm going to be getting a Qanba Q4 that I'm going to turn into a KoF themed stick. Then I'll use the Metal Slug artwork for my SFxT pro stick. Thanks!

Casuals and Registration start at 12 PM

Tournaments begin no later than 1 PM

TENTATIVE TIME SCHEDULE, COULD BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

RULES:

All tournaments will be 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Matches, Double elimination unless listed otherwise.

TTT2 will be 3/5 rounds, 2/3 Matches.

Marvel will be 3/5 matches.

Top 3 in each tournament will switch to 2/3 rounds, 3/5 matches.

Marvel/TTT will be 3/5 rounds 3/5 matches.

If you wish to change controls, do so prior to the match during a button check. If you begin the match with the wrong controls, that is too bad. If you pause the match or attempt to restart because your controls were messed up, you forfeit your match.

If you wish to use multi button binds for other games, it will have to be at the affirmation of your opponent.

Default button binds are exempt from this rule

Winner keeps same character, loser may select a new one

All games will be played on random stage select

Blind character selection may be requested if a counter pick is a concern. In this case, one of the staff may be called upon to get the selection of both characters from the competitors.

If you are called for a match, you will have 5 minutes (which is VERY lenient) to get to your station and play. If you fail to get to your station, you will forfeit the match. This is not true in the case of someone playing in another game if they are called to play. This is the only exemption. Making your opponents wait is rude, and it also holds up the progress of our bracket. Be courteous. If you are in a tournament that is on going, then stick around. If you need to go smoke, do it fast, and continue your conversations back in the tournament room.

Regarding PS3 pads Do not turn your pad ON until you have synced it to a system using a USB cord. PLEASE turn OFF your pad following the end of your match. This has been an issue in the past, and this negligence isn't going to be tolerated. It's disruptive to the people who come to play after you. Failure to turn off your pad will result in an automatic disqualification which will count as a loss in your tournament record. A second offense will result in your forfeit from the tournament.

Bring your OWN EQUIPMENT In many cases, I see people needing to wait around because either they left their stick/pad at home, or they lent it out to someone else. This is UNACCEPTABLE. If you are going to a tournament, then you should at LEAST have your own equipment. If I have to wait on someone because they lent out their equipment, I will be very unhappy. I'll bring extra pads, and an extra stick of my own for this at this tournament, but PLEASE bring your own equipment so we can keep things running smoothly.

If you CAN, please bring SETUPS This is more of a request, but depending on what you bring, and what we use, you will be given a discount.

- A setup (PS3 with Monitor) means you pay nothing.

- No PS3 or Monitor/TV and you pay the full $5.

If people can bring setups (PS3's, games, MONITORS) then PLEASE do. We were ridiculously short handed on equipment last time, and this makes it nearly impossible to run these tournaments smoothly. I'd like to be able to do a variety of games, and not have to kick people off casual stations, but in order to do this, we NEED to have as many setups as we can. I understand the inconvenience of unplugging and hauling Playstations and monitors, but it would help our tournament run more smoothly, and quickly, an allow everyone to play the games that they want to play.

The venue is a bar and restaurant, so thankfully we have food and booze at our MAXOUT venue again! This place is awesome, so please buy lots of the delicious pizza and take care of your bar staff.

I was watching your KoF XIII basics video today and I have a question about practicing anti-airs. Does every characters' hop, hyper hop, jump and hyper jump have the same distance? So if I make my practice dummy Kensou   the timing will be the same against K' etc?

Back in the lab with King again. I got to a point where I can do ;dn ;b, ;dn ;b;st ;b, ;df ;d and variations like j.;d,  (Close) ;d;df ;d. Now I'm trying to add drive cancels and a little meter burn.

I've seen some good mid screen combos where King does a ;b Tornado Kick, ;d Tornado Kick to push opponents into the corner. I can't seem to do it except after Trapshot.

It looks like this.
King, Low, Mid-screen, 0 supers, 1DC.avi

Can King link the ;b and ;d versions of her Tornado Kick without first using Trapshot?

I bought a MadCatz SFxT Pro stick (they are on sale). I have no interest in that game and the art is ugly. I've already popped the case open to swap out grey plungers for neo geo colors and put on a red ball top. Now I want to get rid of this artwork.

I have the SFxT Pro template but none of the artwork I find is easily scalable to fit. I downloaded a zip of ripped KoF XIII gallery artwork but they are too small and stretch in funny ways when I try to scale it up.

Anyone have some good KoF XIII artwork for the SFxT Pro? Any links to some good High-Res KoF artwork?

I didn't expect to land all the combos or even win a round. I wanted to show up and show them that I did my best to put in the lab time.

My biggest disappointment was looking like I wasn't practicing. I also acknowledged in my other post the fact they are not there to hold my hand.

I was just hoping to make a better impression. I really respect these guys and I want to have fun and become part of the awesome FGC.

This is like a confessional booth... lol any way here I go.

I got lit up at a local casual. I feel like I walked into a brick wall of skilled players. As I posted about in another thread, KC has a small but super competitive and highly skilled KoFXIII scene.

No disrespect to the guys who I played though. Maybe I'm having my first "salty experience" lol! I really do respect these guys and their skills. I feel like the new kid trying to sit at the cool table haha!

I know I am going to lose, and lose a lot. I want to learn and get better. I feel like these loses didn't teach me anything. I don't know what to work on. I kind of felt like a few players where tired of having me call next honestly... like I was so low skill I wasn't worth their time.

"Work on your composure". What does it mean? What is composed? What does it look like? How do I know when I am playing "composed". "Composure" is such a broad term I don't know what to fix and work on.

Over all it's a great group of guys and I'm trying not to get depressed and fizzle out like some do.

Trying to stay focused and motivated, but damn it's hard.
