The color ping reasoning is completely retarded & the game not fitting on crts isn't a rare problem at all. It happens on mine and I've seen multiple people saying it happens on theirs too.

I wouldn't expect them to fix anything that doesn't completely ruin the game after this point since the developers have to pay sony/microsoft for every patch after the first one. HD remix still has problems but it just got abandoned after its 1st patch and I imagine the same thing will happen here.

Wait until the ranked mode gets patched and I think you're going to enjoy 3soe more. Once you get to a high rank and go make a player match lobby scrubs will avoid you like the plague. The downside of course is that you have to wait for someone looking for a challenge to show up, but it's worth waiting around a while to get some good matches in imo. You can hunt for lobbies with high rank players and find some good matches too. Not to say rank in this game means anything since you can just grind to get where you want, but it does require some dedication at least.

As far as connections go I had a far easier time finding good ones on ggpo, the only decent solution really is to just not settle for anything less than green. It's a pain in the ass when it already takes long enough just to find a match though. The most annoying thing that seems to happen to me frequently online is when I go to do short, short, super with dudley and even if the guy's blocking the first short will make a "hit" sound which is enough to make me go for the super usually even though I can see him blocking on screen...

Also the sf4 herd will migrate once another game comes out so we can look forward to that too.

@Icewater I explained it in the video description but the short version is that the guy would abuse lag as much as he could and talk shit. Plus he used Turbo too.

To get used to parrying Alex's Shoulder you can go into Parry training mode, and after you set Alex to do a Shoulder you can exit out, go into Parry Training, then after the dummy does the shoulder you can hit select and replay that part over and over.

How Alex uses his Shoulder is exactly how Urien uses his Shoulder in that they're trying to be unpredictable with it. The difference is that 9 times out of 10 that Urien will hitconfirm his shoulder into Aegis and get you in the corner whereas Alex is more likely to use EX in order to get that knock down and control the fight.

I would suggest (and because I main Alex and want no competition ;) ) that Parrying Urien's Shoulder is pretty essential to shutting down his Aegis traps. But just blocking Alex's Shoulder doesn't really leave you at a disadvantage. I mean if you block it, I still have to work at getting back in there, in that time you could jump out or do whatever.

Glad to see you kick his ass then.  :)

Cool, being able to train's going to make life a lot easier for me, I guess I just overlooked the option yesterday because I was thinking about trying to punish it on block instead of parrying. I can parry urien's tackle pretty regularly but that shoulder gives me problems because I don't know what part of the slash animation to parry, I can figure it out now though.

And like you say it doesn't leave me at a disadvantage but I couldn't punish it either, so what's someone who just started playing alex going to do? Nothing but that move of course, with some head stomps mixed in. It got kind of tiring yesterday, along with the apparent sa1 akuma hunting season taking place on xbox live right now. Those guys are pretty easily taken care of though and at least I'm getting plenty of fireball parrying experience.

Edit- Alright the regular version is indeed very punishable and pretty easy to parry too. The ex version less so, looks like I'm going to need to learn to red parry the 2nd hit of it to hit back with anything.

How was he a troll? Because of the headbutt bullshit he kept going for? Also you're an alex player so you can probably tell me, for the slash move where he travels across the screen is there time to punish it on block with a super or anything? I can't parry the damn thing to save my life.

I would try setting it up in training mode but for some reason capcom thought the "record" feature should be a recording of yourself training that you can't do anything with. Simply amazing.

Well despite being told not to, I just tried playing ranked mode and I must be in the extreme minority because I had almost no problems. It took about a minute to find a match and aside from 2 people everyone had at least a yellow connection, and all of those played perfectly minus a few freezes.

I got to rank 6 in about 2 hours, ended up fighting quite a few skilled players too.

Raging demon ain't shit. Does Dandy even do homogeniuses any more? There's only been like one new one in the last 6 months or so.

Had some matches against darksydephil on sunday. I hadn't played 3s online in a few months so I was playing pretty bad, but I still got him mad enough to complain about lag the entire time. It was worth a few laughs for me.

The Atlus website takes forever to load or is it just my crappy connection? I'm talking specifically about the Characters section.

Yeah I had to reload it 10+ times to get it to work when I tried. Do you use firefox?

That bad eh? Guess I'll keep steering clear of it for now then.

Alright, I finally reactivated my xbox live account. I haven't tried ranked yet but pretty much all the player matches I've had have been really good, and they're going to be patching the game so I'm actually pretty pleased with capcom for once.

My gamertag's Austinm416 for anybody that wants to play, just shoot me a friend request.

General Discussion / Re: KOF inputs
« on: August 26, 2011, 10:02:48 PM »
I'm new to the KOF series and I have a question. Since the inputs tend to be lenient in KOF, is it easier to do Desperation Moves than say, Street Fighter Ultra moves?

SF4 is one of the most input lenient games in the history of competitive fighting games, if not the most. That being said, kof isn't too much more difficult. Like Sharnt said you need to move a bit faster and you need to be a bit more precise (no mashing), but just coming off of sf4 myself it doesn't take too long to adjust.
