I tested:

f,f+A, (air) qcb+BD, qcb+B
f,f+A, (air) qcb+BD, qcb+D

Both in the corner and at mid-screen, and couldn't get the last move to connect at all. I don't think the aerial qcb+BD juggles the opponent high enough for the first hit of the (ground) qcb+K to hit.

So I headed to my local arcade today, all eager to see if they'd updated their KOF XIII machine. And indeed they had!

Buuuut, for some reason, the game no longer prompts you to choose your button layout (A-type or B-type). It just defaults to A. I'm sure this isn't because of the patch, since I'm sure someone would have mentioned it. It's probably some kind of option the arcade owner turned off. Still, it sucks for me since I've been playing B-type since the start. A-type feels really awkward to me, and messed up several of my combos.

I felt I just had to complain about this.

Maybe getting a bit off-topic, but the next generation of arcade boards are going to adopt a digital distribution model. SNK was one of the signed on to develop for them, so future KOF games will be able to be patched easily.

Which is great news for us crazy folk who dislike bugs.

Too damn cool. Thanks for the video.

I look forward to seeing you pull that off during an actual match against a real K'.

Yeah, but if someone is new to the game and doesn't have any grip on the basics, I'm sure a lot of them would prefer to play single-player or practice mode rather than just getting bull-dozed.

To me, it would be pretty reasonable for someone to decide that they'll save their money and wait for the console release, where they can practice as much as they want before trying to fight others. The fact is that arcades just aren't usually inviting places to learn the basics.

not 12, 16 seconds. and if the damage is lowered to 200 or 175 it would hardly matter. youd be giving up anything CD related, AB related and command throws.
Except Raiden can still do GCCD, which is probably the only thing that really screams "unfair" to me.

There are lots of possible ways to balance out his drop kick, but what I'd most like them to do is cap his regular drop kick as level 3, which is a little less safe/damaging. If a move is going to be as damaging, high-priority and safe as his level 4, I think it needs to cost some stock. So they could give Raiden an EX drop kick. Both buttons charged for 12 seconds = his old level 4 drop kick.

This way, Raiden gets something in return for the nerf: He can now charge a level 4 drop kick four seconds faster than before.

But he can no longer link two level 4s together, his normal drop kicks won't be as invincible, and may of his old 100%s won't work because he needs a bar to do the level 4. To me, this would remove all of the really stupid Raiden stuff, without making the character less fun to play.

Just my two cents.

Man, the quality of videos we're getting just keeps getting better and better. Thanks a lot.

I also appreciated that, in the most recent KCE videos, K', Mature and Raiden weren't allowed. Not because I think they should be banned for tourneys, but simply because I'm interested in seeing more variety in videos.

Shit, if I paid 1500 yen to watch the stream I'd feel damn ripped-off if it only consisted of three matches.

I'm sure there were other matches. These are just the only ones that the Answer has (graciously) uploaded to youtube for us.

Oh, right.

Damn, I bet that's the only reason they didn't include that feature for everyone.

Well I was pretty happy to see such an excellent display of Duolon's abilities. His EX-floor kick into his DM from full screen was awesome. The same player kept Kim as his last character, but he never seemed to do anything really awesome with him. Well, he didn't get much of a chance to, but still.

I wish they had gone the 2002UM route and made charges unnecessary when canceling in HD mode. I think a lot more people would be interested in Leona and Ash.

No problem. It was hard to catch them all.

One of my very tiny criticisms of XIII's visuals are the effect for EX moves. Blue gas doesn't look very cool, or very impressive, and (especially when the character's specials are blue in color) it can be hard to notice.

Hwa Jai / Re: Hwa Jai

He does look fun, I might even give him a go too.  Shame there's not third drinking character or else I'd have a drinking team. =)
You're in luck! There's even a special ending for a Chin / Hwa / King team. The Master Guide even calls it the Alcohol Team.

It's a small detail, but Drink Pink also changes Hwa's idle animation. He starts lolling his tongue out as some liquid drips down his chin. One of his alternates makes this liquid blood-red, and it seriously makes Hwa look like someone Yamazaki would be scared of.

So I did some experimenting with Ryo today. Specifically, I trying to see if you could cancel from his zanretsuken into his NeoMax. My conclusion is no.

Just to review, the A version ends with a punch that sends his opponent flying back. The C version ends with a punch that sends them airborne. If you cancel into his NM from the A version, the opponent is already too far back for it to connect. Even in the corner, Ryo's fist just seemed to pass right through the opponent. It looks possible, but I don't think it is. If you cancel into his NM from the C version, the opponent is still too high in the air for it to connect. Disappointing. I was however able to connect a Haohshokoken rather easily.

In my opinion, the easiest way I've found to hit-confirm his NM (other than Max canceling into it from his ranbu) is:

EX Zanretuken -> NM
EX Hienshippukyaku -> NM

The advantage of these is that they can both be done anywhere on the screen, and they're not cancels, so you don't even need to be in HD mode to do them. If you ARE in HD mode, then you have enough time to follow either one up with more attacks without needing to waste any of your HD cancels. Those two EXs are really good.

HD and 2 bars for the ex dm = 100% ?
No, it's HD, four EX specials and one normal DM = 100%. So five bars. I'm sure more than half the cast should be able to pull off a 100% with five bars and HD.

Still, the HD combo did really good damage.
