General Fighting Game Discussion / Re: Ougon Musou Kyoku
« on: February 05, 2012, 04:59:28 AM »
Well, the game definitely has evolved since the initial release. Thanks to patches to the gameplay and playtime with the game, the game has gotten a lot more interesting.

This is from the appended sequel of the PC version which added OTG property to the game, air blocking, and new characters. The combos can get a little ridiculous, but, if you meta-deny, you can keep things in check. This game is really meter management heavy since your touch gauge, meta gauge, and both primary and partner SP gauges are pretty much intertwined, not only for offensive but defensive purposes as well.

Sega CD also had one of my most favorite rpgs ever, Lunar.

This man. He understands the power of the Dragonmaster.

I remember when it first came out, I played it for hours and hours on end. We thought the best combo was ABC>touch>ABC>meta>ABC>super lol. Touch is an interesting mechanic and so are the individual abilities. Beatrice is probably my favorite character in SEACATS, both VN and FG (dat Infinite SP). Meta cockblock is pretty hilarious. CROSS is out for X360, but JP only. The PC version has a patch and append disc that brings most of the game mechanics up to par with the port and adds a few (but not all) characters.

yeah i should but i would like to at least have something to fall back on for later after i finish both of those

If you don't care about art, try Umineko no Naku Koro ni. It's mystery/supernatural horror, but it's got interesting plotlines and characters. There's even a fighting game based on it. The series itself is rather long since there are 4 major story arcs spanning 8 VN's.

Well I played some sets post-patch for about an hour or so. The game does indeed seem a smoother, and I never got the "sychronizing" box that used to pop up every so often. There was definitely enough input lag to keep me frustrated. However, my internet is pretty terrible, and no amount of patching or netcode re-writing can fix that.

Well I guess it's already done.

Problems/questions/concerns?

If not, continue enjoying your discussion.

Split the topic and moved KS/VN talk to it's own thread here: http://dreamcancel.com/forum/index.php?topic=2003.0

Mostly because I'm debating whether to make it solely a KS thread, or turn it into a thread about Visual Novels in general.  Plus if we did make one, I would want a mod to try and move most of the KS discussion on this thread over to the new thread.

I'm not a global moderator, so I don't think I have rights to move things around in the Social Club section. I can ask nilcam, though, if you'd like to make it happen.

I would also suggest just making it a VN general thread.

EDIT: Looks like I was able to do it myself. Feel free to rename it to whatever you'd like.

I'm surprised you guys didn't just make a KS thread, considering how much you guys have posted about it.

You really get more out of it if you do the Bad Ends first. Tends to make everything more impactful that way. Maybe it's just me.

Duo Lon / Re: Duo Lon (Console)
« on: January 27, 2012, 08:18:42 PM »
Hi, trying to main Duo Lon seems he's a speedy character. I do have a question on his reset. Usually after his BNB:  ;dn ;b ;dn ;b ;dn ;a (;dn ;df ;fd ;a)X3,  ;bk ;db ;dn ;df ;fd  ;b. Usually he will teleport to opponent's back, but sometimes its in front.

Is it character specific? I recorded this and tried this on kyo with repeated playbacks, it gives the same results. Sometimes it will be in front of the opponent, while most of the time he will teleport behind. Any clue?

Has anyone noticed that sometimes after cr.Ax3 xx Rekkas, qcf+B, st.C, you won't cross up after the teleport? Mid-combo it's really hard to adjust. Is there anyway to know when the qcf+B will teleport will cross-up and when it won't based on number of hits/distance before a combo? Or do I just have to wing it?

I believe it depends on the timing that you cancel the last hit of the rekka with qcf+B.  If you do it late, you won't cross up and if you do it at the earliest moment you will.

Also, for teleport, you just have to do QCF, not HCF.

Well if Emi's bad end made you feel feelings, you're not gonna be looking good after Hanako's.

True story. feelsbadman.jpg

... and post-pic Misha is balls, IMO.
