What about SF III ? (and with that i mean 3S). It's not my cup of tea, but is regarded as the best fighting game EVUR by a lot of people.

SFA2 was released in 1996, and Capcom made made some good fighting games since.
By the way i'm not saying all of their FG since 96~97 were good.

I don't like SFIII. While there are some pretty good characters, the gameplay always felt really slow to me. When you look at the SF series, it strived for speed and aggression. The speed part dies out after the Alpha series and A2 felt better to me than A3.

Garou is like the better version of the SFIII series.

Street Fighter Zero 2 is clearly the best of the series.
Zero 3 had a lot of nice things in the art department (new characters, new animations, Dan's new fighting pose, etc) but the gameplay suffered.
They added a guard gauge, wich is great, but the throw was performed with one or two buttons. EPIC FAIL. THIS IS WRONG.
Plus, they asked you to select if you wanted to do the supers, the custom, counters, etc; while on Zero 2 you had everything from the getgo!!! Ridiculous.
Zero 3 also had a couple of broken stuff, Zero 2, while not perfect, was more balanced.
Many people want the Vampire Saviour series to return. Those people should keep in mind that if the series return, it will have the same treatment as SF4....no thanks.

For Raiden, I think they should just remove the drop kick.
I thought about it and I think it's the easiest way to solve the problem.
Raiden is already a more than competent character without it. Some normals are good & blowback is great.
He already has 4 special attacks. He has the spit, the shoulder tacke, a special throw and an aerial special throw, plus he has 2 Supers.
The dropkick doesn´t even have new animation, so it would be a loss on the art or aesthetic department either.
I know many people will disagree but in my opinion, the best solution is to remove the attack.
I would also like to point out that I think K' is a little overrated. I'm not saying he is useless, he is a very good character, but I think people usually play against him in the wrong way.

I don´t think Capcom is what it used to be, at least in terms of fighting games.
Not so long ago, they would still develop their classic 2D fighters, even in the next gen era, they were still on business.
Street Fighter Zero, the Marvel and then Marvel vs games, JoJo, etc.
They were a company producing bit hits with newer technology like Bio Hazard and many other games, but still keep their fighting divission games classic and pure.
Somewhere along the way, they decided to stop doing quality stuff and just go for the pure mainstream bullshit.
I would actually like for SNK and Capcom to have, once again, that classic battle for the reign of the fighting genre.
Capcom might get all the money, but, at least to me, they don´t have the prestige anymore.
So to me, Versus games,  new/old franchise games, are the same now. Capcom games are all shit to me now.
I didn´t like Marvel Vs Capcom 2, I wasn´t a fan of 100% of their games, but I have been a Capcom supporter for a long time, not anymore.

Shen > Iori but Ash > Shen, seriously Ash is becoming a problem.

In what way?

Tbh, I can't really compare Ash with Yagami and Shen cause he has a different gameplay overall. It's just that the latter two are so similar in a way.

I agree Ash is strong when he has 2 stocks, but I don't think he's quite at Iori and Shen's level of threat.

If you ask me, Liz and Kula are the problem hahhah j/k =)

Yeah, I've said it many times, but those two bitches really get on my nerves.
I like juggles, but not those type of juggles.

Hello, welcome to the dreamcancel forum.

Shen was cool, had some nice stuff but in matchups againts really good characters, he wasnt very effective.
Starting from XII, he has improved a lot, certain specials as well as some normals work much much better and he has become an extrematelly solid character.
With Iori I think he is still pretty good, but the change in his moves might have downgraded him a little. He is either the same or a little worse that his classic magatama persona. As a classic fireball spammer, I must say the fireball is what I miss the most.
Iori still to be a little better on the defensive end, even if he requires meter to get invencible on specials.
Of course, I have yet to play XIII, my opinions are based on videos and knowlodge of previous KOFs.
In any case, I am a user and fan of both characters so....

I actually enjoyed reading this, so thanks for typing it out for us. Always a trip down memory lane when someone retreads their past gaming experiences. I too began (fighters) with Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition. It was at the 7-11 on the corner of my street, so I would go there to play with my older brother. Occasionally, if the machine was taken or busy, I would play Cadillacs & Dinosaurs instead lol Anyway, it's good to hear that you are up and at it again. Hopefully your renewed interest gets you back into the swing of things. If anything, do give XIII a shot! It's a great game and I'm sure it'll more than make up for all the years of KOF that you've missed. Lastly, welcome to DC.com!

Ha ha, question is, who didnt start playing fighters with SFII?
Of course I´m taking about people around 30, not people who are 18 years old.
Regarding SNK, I started with Fatal Fury but on Megadrive. A friend of mine was kinda into SNK, so he usually got console versions of many of those games. Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, Samurai Spirits, etc.
Omegaryuji, welcome to the forums and welcome back to the SNK world.

More XIII love from the Land of the Rising Sun .

Strangely this is part 3 and I can't find the other parts yet.

A little Takuma, nice.
While I was checking that video, I couldnt resist and I checked again the videos of Kaoru's Kim.
I am still impressed. I WANT THIS GAME NOW.

That Kim was really REALLY remarkable.
That guy is the real deal.

I know everyone is happy about the news posted by orochinagi, but I will personally wait for an oficial announcement from SNK themselves
When I see a little banner on SNKP or even a little preview video announcing the game, like the one they did for KOF 13 arcade, then and only then I will start having tears of joy, on the meantime.....I'll just wait.

I don´t thin the intro animations will be animated specially for the console release.
I do think that, if the KOF 13 becomes a mega hit for SNKP, and they plan to continue the series, we will probably see them soon.
When you select a character, you can even hear classic catch phrases that characters said at the begging of the matches in previous games.
Now that they finally made a full game, they won´t have to go back to scratch.
They can start adding certain characters, certain moves, little changes to some costumes, etc; just like old time. They won´t have to go back to scratch again.

Well, the thing with Shen is that he has that certain style that makes SNK characters so cool and unique.
He is a 100% classic SNK character.
Good thing about this character is that he also doesn´t have a real story or motive, he just wants to fight stronger opponents. This means that when we get a new arc, Ash and Elizabeth might be drop to follow the new story, but Shen could easily stick around, he could be invited for any team any time.
I can´t wait to use him (I am already a Shen user since XI).

The tourney videos were cool, the only problem is that I got excited seeing Takuma in the first match, but then....
Man, noone uses Takuma, I would really love to see someone kicking ass with him, but after 1.1 ver got released, he just dissapeared.
