SNK did the charge move thingamagig right with Marco in Garou MOTW, they need to either do it the same with Raiden or remove the move altogether because, as it stands, its pure BS.

Insanse damage? Check. Comboable and juggle anywhere? Check. Super fast with excellent start up and recovery? Check. Goes through fireballs? Check. No bar needed? Check. Leads to easy %100 combos? Check. Does excellent guard crush damage? Check. Combo after a CD Counter? Bloody check.

Its basically giving an already solid character a move that you would expect a boss to have.

i uploaded some more korean matches on my tube... enjoy em:

ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2Zn_r8RE7k

Thanks man, Korean matches are by far my fave ones to watch when it comes to this game.

Really solid Kensou in the first vid, haven't put in much time into XI (no 2p) and haven't seen him used in match before so didn't know that he was so much better than in 2k2. Loving the improved combo options, his really sucked in 2k2.

A great Gai player in the second vid, I'd kill for him to appear in XIV. Ditch Hwa Jai and make him the rival for Joe, badass character with a unique play style.

Third vid has a sweet Adel finish in the first match.

Gonna look through TYRANNICAL's vids now. These vids remind me what a pity it is that this game still hasn't been emulated for online play.

EDIT:

Appreciate the vids man.

First Vid: Holy crap at Poongko's K', mad solid all around with excellent use of the SDM's anywhere juggle property (even off of a freaking sweep). Damn, K's SDM lets you anywhere juggle and juggle after (with a special or another super). No wonder ppl are warming up to K' so easily in XIII, the guy has been solid since 2003 and continues that tradition yet again.

Too bad the guy already seemed to have figured out Poongko's Iori and Kyo, they kept falling like flies.

Second Vid: One of my fave matches ever, Kyo and Iori tag team craziness.

Third vid: Oh my...

(more vids uploaded in that channel)

Damn these Encyclopedia matches are tight, so much intensity. That guy makes Joe look damn good, often standing toe to toe with Raiden and Kyo. Great corner super combo and mid screen combos. Joe looks to be solid all around.

Maxima punch combinations into super look so damn good, you can almost feel that heat and vapor. Again, a really good showing. Lol at him kicking Mature's fireball.

Seems this game, so far, hasn't been so much about finding the weaknesses of the "better" characters but rather finding the strengths of the "weaker" ones.

Quote

(starting 2:10, watch both rounds) Ah... so that's what happens when you piss of a really good player by doing a %100 combo on him.

Heh that Kyo grab combo was interesting, great for flash.

Well, Joe's gonna get some play now, maybe. I don't see why you'd pick him over Mature if the infinite is your priority, his requires more skill.

EDIT:

There's one more vid in the channel.

Both great matches. Joe finally gets played, embarrassed in one match and redeemed in the other. Raiden gets his ass handed to him pretty much in every match, rush down owns him.

Nice Shen in there, very on point and great combos.

In one vid the guy did a Liz corner juggle combo ending with the usual super but... he was able to juggle with a standing A after the super and went straight into another but missed. Shit, does this actually work?

Also, lots of standing jab action going on (ala MOTW).

Same, that's the first thing that popped to my mind. I wonder if that's what they meant by "overkill".

Overkill refers to %100 combos, I think.

Combo
- st. C, qcb+K, (DC) d~u+K, (DC) qcb+K

In one vid a guy did an EX qcb+K DC instead and the opponent ended up in a juggle state where Kim lands on the ground first for more juggling oppurtunities (like another dp etc).

I'm seeing a lot of air-to-air and air-to-ground superiority in Kim's future, since his air EX moves are supposed to have invincibility and all lead to further comboing.

Thats what I meant, established characters like the Spy Team and New Faces team. New characters will mean they are less likely to return.

You wouldn't even have the Spy Team and New Face team if SNK wasn't willing to try new stuff.

New characters = letting SNK do what they do best

KOF has so many fan favourite characters that never made it to XIII that it makes absolutely no sense to pile more new characters into the series. This just pushes classics into obscurity and disappoints a lot of people. I'd love for SNK's new policy to be something on the lines of working towards as complete a reunion of established characters as possible with XII/XIII style sprites being added for the Outlaw team, Spy team etc with every installment, along side refinement of gameplay mechanics.

Thanks but no thanks.

A lot of my fave characters are new and original characters to the series (Ramon, Shen, Vanessa, Oswald, Angel, Yashiro, Shermie, K', Maxima, Duo Lon etc.) so I'm more eager to see what new goodness SNK can come up with.

Good going on switching Goro, Kane. I wanted to suggest you do so after watching the latest tourney vid but forgot to. Not only did you not do too well with him but he didn't at all seem to fit in with your style of play, when considering how you play with Chin and Shen.

Looking forward to some good Leonage.

Thanks for the vids ppl.

That white pants Kyo is the best Kyo I've see so far I think. Shows Kyo to be an excellent all around character and one of the most dangerous with Hyper Drive, easy hit confirm thanks to df+K and his moves and supers lend themselves great to it. That triple Orochinagi combo is just too sweet looking for words.

He's also the first one to use EX Orochinagi often, seems he uses its speed and priority to land a counter hit and then juggles with Kyo's running grab. Wonder if its possible to land another EX Orochinagi on counter instead or the triple kick into a super? Wouldn't it also be possible to transition into Hyper drive by juggling with dp+BC or rdp+BC?

Looks like Kyo has a Shen color pallette.

K' is still good but not damn good, characters like Kyo, Kula etc can take him on pretty well. Kula especially seems to do well against him (anti-K' indeed, heh). Mai also did well against him, eventhough the guy was clearly new to her and didn't maximize the damage opputunities, unlike the K' user. So yeah, he's very much beatable.

Takuma and Mature are becoming less and less relevant it looks like. If mature isn't landing her infinite then she is, usually, getting her ass handed to her. And overall there has been a pretty big drop in her use, dunno if its because she doesn't seem to be too good outside of the infinite or its looked down upon if you pick her now.

Andy seems to be the clear favourite now from the FF team, a 180 from KOF12. His break move and drive cancels may lead to some really interesting stuff in the corner. One guy had a really neat looking break+drive combo going in the corner but dropped it.

Raiden is still an asshole, but a unique one amongst grapplers I think. For a grappler of his size he is very offense based and thanks to his drop kick makes sure that the opponents rushe that shit down against him as well. Good stuff SNK (just reduce the damn damage). His drop kick looks to have similar guard break strenght to Tizoc's TOP move in MOTW....great.

Still zero Kim love :(

Chang and Momoko look awesome, I actually feel like using him with that take. Hope they go through with making him as huge as they say when they eventually do at him to the roster. They gotta give his gameplay a major overhaul though, its pretty friggin boring as it stands.

Malin should die in a fire. Oswald is a must for XIV or, better yet, a XIII console surprise.

In due time, there's at least 6 more matches for the top 8, and if he posts the whole tourney there's a lot more.  There's also at least 5-6 matches he hasn't uploaded that were from the original casual batch.  He's a busy man and unfortunately he has the HD at his house to upload... =(

Awesome, can't wait.

Being the only one to upload direct feed HD vids the man can take all the time he needs lol.

Thanks for the play and vids guys, really appreciated.

Holy shit at that Raiden combo. That had to be one of the, if not the, fastest and easiest looking 97% damage combos I have ever seen. That drop kick is going to give a lot of ppl nightmares.

And I love watching Mr. Kof rebound of the wall into that combo with Robert, the whole thing meshes so well that I feel like I'm watching an action scene from an anime.

Looks like if you space your pokes right then you can go into a demon flip and crossup with the dive kick into a combo, showcased really well by Reynald.

Any more vids gonna be posted or is that it, Kane? Gotta see that Chin of yours. I was also hoping to see some Kensou action courtesy of the Answer.

Yup, seems defense is a huge weakness of Takuma's. Get him blocking and there isn't all that much he can do without super, it looks like. If they abuse the ex bug then they won't have super often either.
