I wonder why they don't highlight new protagonists. I know that Kyo is the poster boy, but I bet he isn't even closely the center of attention in this saga.

By the way, bit of an offtopic, but it seems that I must have an account to Shoryuken forum to view it? I liked reading stuff there, but I'm not ready to commit myself to that forum :)

Apparently the latest Famitsu article mentions that Tung and Mian's teams are important to the story.

And yeah, SRK started requiring people to log in a week or so ago. No idea why.

Marketing sure is better than in XIII's case, but will it lead to better sales?

As sad as this may sound, the mere fact that it isn't 2D anymore will probably lead to better sales.

On another forum someone mentioned working in retail and seeing first hand how much buyers get turned off by a game being 2D, it's like a stigma.

Did anyone notice in the 50 minute pod past, the development team mentions the music that accompanies kukri is orchestral. Does this mean each of the members of the official invitation team have their own sound track much like kof 97's orochi team?

Could be but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the only theme since it would go perfectly with their stage.

Wonder what this will actually be!

Me too, it's interesting how they are making it coincide with E3.

Oda san would rather attend wednesday night fights than go to E3.. My hat goes off to him.

The man has his priorities straight.

It would be great if that was from an E3 trailer.

We all know about Kim and luong.. Gang il looked pretty cool to me. I thought he looked abit bulky to be a taekwondo fighter... was that Kim's d d +K I saw from him!

Yup, he also has Jae Hoon's Shakka-shuu and Dong Hwan's jumping cross up kick.

The entire team looks great to me.

I dig how looking at Gang Il you can see his teachings in Kim, his sons etc.

Ralf's new punch move very likely has guard point on start up.

The SDM version of Ralf's Bareback Vulcan looks so boss in XIV.

Does Just Defend do anything other than gives you nice sparkly effect when you pull it off? Haven't paid that much attention. Will they do something similar to Garou or will they drop the mechanic eventually?

In XIV it:

- builds more power meter than blocking
- reduces guard gauge depletion

Most people who have played the game seem to think that it is a nice and fresh way to implement the mechanic.

38 minutes of footage from the 36 character build:

They spend most of the time just testing stuff out with various characters so you can see a lot of neat stuff happen.

It would make the parry too good probably.

Chin has a 1 frame parry/counter but he doesn't have a meterless invincible reversal like Ryo does.

Well, if Ryos parries were say 4-5 frames of total startup instead of the current 7-8 (i think), he would still, unlike chin, be unable to use them against meaties etc and they wouldn't come out on button hold so they'd require manual timing aswell. I don't think they'd be overpowered if made faster and since ex moves are only available in max mode he wouldn't have any launchers from parry anyways. The worst he's going to hit you with if he isn't in max mode is a super of some kind, unless they make parry max cancelable wich could be crazy.

And Chins counters are too good in 13. Playing against Chin is practically mental suicide because he is one big (small) dynamic 50/50 machine. Doesn't matter who's on offense, everything is Chins mixup and it all leads to corner carry and 500 ish damage. I hope he's more sane in 14 because i do like him, stupidity aside.

Ryo's parry is 4 frames start up in XIII and at minimum it's the same in XIV, going by the footage we have seen, if not slightly faster.

The drive cancel system being gone and EX moves not being available at all times will make Chin's counter a lot less of a threat from the getgo. He will still be able to super/advanced cancel/Climax cancel from it though, but it shouldn't be as bad as what he was able to pull with EX/Drive in XIII. His drinking limit being increased to 10 might also mean that he will need twice as many drinks in total to attain the full power boost ala XIII (which is very fair). I really like him too so here's hoping he's well balanced in XIV.

Ryo can punish just about anything with parries in 13 aswell but they seem to be a bit faster in 14. I believe they start up as normals (4 + startup) in 13 and what i hope they've done is shift it over to special startup (1 + startup) wich will make them way better for reactionary play. I may be completely off and perhaps i just suck though so whatever. They look better now.
