Weird, I fell in love with SNK thanks to diverse style of musics in their games, although different games has focus on certain genre.

Personally I've never understood appeal of Guilty Gear soundtracks. In general I'd say metal doesn't really work in video games. Guilty Gear has this problem, that it is really neutral sounding. It's just background noise to me. Just by listening soundtracks, I'd say that Korean soundtrack of X2 #Reload is better sounding, but I don't know how well they work in-game. Korean OST sounds more video game-y.

Personal surprise for me has been musics in Dead or Alive. I don't know what exactly I find appealing in them.

Like I said, this subject is such a minefield :)

I'm digging the soundtrack. Iori team's theme sounds like Bold & Beautiful (). Only real stinker is Tung's team's theme. Only thing I find intresting is that it uses melody from Tung's Fatal Fury theme. Overall, soundtrack has same qualities that made 2000's and XI's soundtrack so enjoyable: More upbeat feel.

I guess daddy Heidern didn't buy her right size bra... But yeah, I'd say leave breast physics development to Team Ninja, but it doesn't hurt to try make your own?

But yeah, I'm not going to talk about this subject anymore. It's so minefield. All I say, it's okay to women be attractive, in a tasteful way.

Well...

Ralf looked nice, no more "I ate too much steroids" look.

I like Leona's modern desing more, although it's very revealing.

Clark looks more professional than ever. Kinda clever how SNK added ground pound to his moves.

Survivors Under the Sky sounded great, slowly becoming my favorite track in the game.

Am I only person to be bothrered by the fact that Kensou has the most detailed teeth in the game? https://twitter.com/RaivokasMagma/status/758957352594706432

Well, that website could be better. It takes forever to load and could be a lot cleaner looking.

Well, arguing over what you like and don't like is important part of our lives :) So far I've liked all themes, except China team's. Ikari teams theme sounds promising.

Anyways, the trailer. Athena looks like her pre-XIII self. I kinda miss XIII Shining Crystal Bit, as it had shorter duration, but you can still cancel this one. I have to wonder, why they took out the ability to do Psycho Sword on air?

Chin looks so dangerous, if he drinks too much. Never really liked him, but seems to be XIII Chin.

Kensou still looks underwhelming. That rape face doesn't help much. Also his teeth look weird.

Am I the only one who thinks that SNK had more fun developing XIV than XIII? I mean marketing is better, musics sound more relaxed, more humor in trailers etc. Maybe everyone were so grumpy making graphics in XIII, which in the end I think they weren't worth the effort.

General Discussion / Re: KOF XIV Demo Impressions
« on: July 20, 2016, 11:41:02 AM »
I just copy the message I did earlier in another thread.

Played some demo.

It certainly looked better in person than on video. Good use of color, in action looked smooth and effects looked fantastic. While raw graphical prowess isn't better than SFV, GGXrd or upcoming Tekken 7, style makes up a lot. This might be good thing, PlayStation 4 doesn't have to work that much to push graphics.

Musics sounded good. I've only heard these on videos while usually someone is talking over them. The themes I've heard already trumps over XIII soundtrack in my opinion. So far my favorite is K' team's theme. Might've been television speakers, but I couldn't hear character voices that well.

What about the gameplay? I'm liking the concepts and they certainly require more excecution than you think, but not XIII levels fortunately, I think. I would've liked, if SNK included some combo trials, so I can get some hints what character could do.

Game felt responsive and smoother than XIII. I could actually do the whole tutorial with arcade stick, but that could be because I've played DOA5LR with it, so I'm better with it. XIII was first game I tried stick with :) Jump in attacks felt easier to do compared previous entries, so maybe timings aren't so strict?

Some UI things could be better though. Getting to command list was kinda hassle. It usually has been Select button, but PS4 has Share button instead of that :( Now I have to press start, select command list, then slect character I want to look at and then go back. Touch pad reset was nice though. I'd like if I could select three characters for training mode and switch between them, so I don't have to spend so much time on menus, but that's exclusive to 2003 and XI sadly.

Overall, game felt promising. I can see me spending time learning stuff and maybe even playing against real people. I hope there's lots of unlockables and that netcode is good. Promised online features sound good on paper, so I hope SNK can deliver.

I mostly tried out Sylvie. Personally I would've included different characters, but that's just me.

That was entertaining.

Xanadu looked funny, too bad exchibition didn't show potential he has.

Meitenkun was more intresting than I thought. I guess he is charge character taken to the next level.

Mature look like her XIII counterpart, which I'm fine with. Never liked her old school version that much.

Mian seems hard character to use, really short range. Air dashing reminds me of Choi....

Ramon looked fun, I've always liked him.

Zarina seemed fun, excited to try her out. She still farts flowers, but oh well...

Kensou looks more competent than I thought, but never really liked him.

Love Heart's style seemed slightly underwhelming, but I still want to try her out.

Angel seems tricky as usual. Not my cup of tea, but I can see my annoyance levels rising.

Gang-Il seemed to my character more than Kim. He had funny running animation and some jiggle in his muscles.

Alice looked fun, I liked how fumbling animations she had. Annoying voice though. She seems to be rich, considering how much coins she drops.

Geese looks dangerous, considering he now has super counter move. Overall, good and fresh desing.

So the next episode is in early August, so few weeks and we have new episode.

Ugh, SFV's story mode... I guess Rashid was the most intresting character.

Anyways, I woke up at 4am, checked the forum and watched the trailer. I surely couldn't sleep after that. Kinda like like the style of CGI, not too different from the style of in-game graphics.

Story has good premise. Nakoruru seems to have bigger role, but we'll see...

Demo has good selection of different playstyles. Looking forward to Sylvie and King of Dinosaurs. I finally play something on my PS4.

Antonov has hard hitting style, just like I expected. He doesn't seem to be douche, which is a good thing.

Kinda exciting final. Ramon looked so fun, I hope some of his timings aren't so strict.

Nice read about the Finnish gangs custle, never new stuff like that went down for such an amount of time. Is there any films that were made about the Puukkojunkkari's.

How about this one
https://youtu.be/Q9sspmasDTA

That's kind of a okay movie. I was bothered by the fact that enviroments were colorful, while the characters were so grey.

I guess Häjyt (https://youtu.be/hv-LxCMW6Yc) is puukkojunkkari movie, set in modern times. A lot better than Härmä, kind of like a western movie. Both were summer blockbusters back in the day.

Anyways, Meitenkun seemed intresting. Too bad he is half charge character, I want to like them, but never figured out how to use them.

I always felt that "classic" Kensou was bit clunky character, although he had some of the most acrobatic moves in the game. XIII was step in the right direction in that regard, but XIV seems to be step backwards. Work in progress I know, but game is so close to release, so I don't expect any dramatic changes. Who knows, maybe he has some potential.
