yeah we do most of our work during the football season cause of half half time shows and had competitions on the weekends  and a few parades pretty much after the new year everything is a  bit easier hardly any practice and we maybe do the occasional parade

Marching Band doesn't sound that fun in general.

Alright, rant time.

So I'm playing Rayman: Origins and I find it to be absolutely fantastic. It's probably the best platformer of the year and because it was made by Michel Ancel, it flopped hard. (see also: Beyond Good and Evil)

Now normally this wouldn't be a problem, but it makes me think. Where the fuck are these indie/"games are art GAIS!??!" gamers where you need them? It seems every time there's a legitimately good artistic game made, it seems to get ignored yet games that are pretentious bullshit get attention all the time?

For example: Edmund McMillen. This talentless fuck makes a Super Meat Boy, which is basically a ROM hack game reskinned for XBLA. People are praising it for its difficulty and retro throwbacky-ness and it's total shit. It's a game where you fail until you get it right which isn't real difficult. It's just dumb trail and error and it's as stupid as when they started that with Kaizo games and IWBTG. Then he makes some stupid Zelda knockoff called The Binding of Isaac which gets attention for its retro-ness and controversial plot, all the while being nothing special at all.

Then we got Braid, THE MOST PRETENTIOUS GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED. It is sickening how lame and how far he had to reach to make the game look like art. Shitty classical music that makes you want to shoot yourself in the head. Check. Pathetic plot that revolves around the author, Jonathan Blow, and his inability to court women. Check. Incredibly dry handpainted visuals. Check. Puzzle platformer. Check. Ugh.

And then Team Ico. Ico itself is a very stale puzzle platformer that lasts for 2 hours and doesn't even get good 'til the end. It's combat is tedious and its story isn't remarkable. It's only claim to fame is its visuals and the relationship with the main characters. SotC fares a lot better, but its clunky controls, some lazy colossi and choppy framerate ruin an otherwise masterful and innovative title.

TLDR version: Indie gamers are full of shit and when the time comes will buy pretentious bullshit, instead of titles that actually make sense.

Protip: never go against the indies unless you're prepared to deal with the hordes of pretentious hipsters that idolize them.

Fuck 'em. They're a bunch of spineless pansies that can't play games made for real men and women.
