^Great finals footage though a little too dark; nice win for Hakim Ex. May be the first time I've seen a match where there were two Ioris and neither were EX.

^I already posted that lol

Mai combo vid, done in the style of a Yuri vid I posted some time ago (and by that, I mean that this vid has some risque images, though not as much as what that Yuri vid had).

Combos stop at 6:15. After that, you're treated to a lovely slide show.   ;)

I moved calibur753's video to the critique thread where it belongs.  Otherwise if everyone uploaded a 1 round match video this thread would explode.

The real good news is that the Kohaku battles above will main climax now every week with 2k2um taking a back seat and should only be once a month.

(have been watching the kohaku crowd for a long time - if they stick with climax we should end up with probably up to 10 destroyers)

Although I wasn't able to get the stream details Shinjuku Carnival tourney this Saturday and another Kohaku today. Will post on the streaming thread if able to pin that down.

Thanks for posting those baikdizz.

Some really great matches in there, Japan has still got it. In particular there was some great Kensou, Clark, Ralf and Benimaru play.

Overall they seem to prefer to use EX/DC combos instead of HD, unlike NA players who focus very much on the latter. Even when they were loaded and had a clear shot into HD they would often use an EX/DC combo instead, maximizing damage for as little meter as possible at a time it seems. This resulted in them often having meter on hand.

With this calibur of players attending regularly? Thats pretty damn sweet.

Really appreciate all the info from their side of the fence man.

Hey no prob.

Yeah that's the kohaku crowd. On slow days there'll be 15 or so, on great days 30+.

All are generally freaking ridiculous on 2k2um - but that level of skill should translate pretty decenty to XIIIC (even for guys who don't have console - which is probably like half).
They usually start with weaker, or lesser known players, then it's usually punishers like

Shoki ("the Pro" bc he's sponsored)
Cap
Naruto
Jam Ouji
Gosho
M Dash

to clean up.

Incidentally, Shoki, Cap, M-Dash were 3 of the 5 players on SNKP's countdown videos for arcade release way back in the day.

I'm probably going to head out to Nishinippori Versus arcade after work next week to go get mashed into paste...

Very interesting, I don't really know much of their KOF players outside of a very few like Dune, Kaoru, Haregoro etc. so really looking forward to learning about more of them and seeing their styles develop.

Let us know how your visit goes, I know you'll do us proud *cough*.
