you know I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if Arcades in So Cal were ranked by skill level. Like if all the arcades had a tournament for each discipline and whoever gets first would grant their Arcade with the #1 rank. And tournaments that would follow would be held by the first place arcade for home court advantage. So the title of #1 could change at any given tournament.

So say Japan arcade were to defeat the AA players. We would have to go to Japan arcade and win first place to get the #1 rank back. And each player may only represent one Arcade

That could work for any game and it would be so sick too because it promotes players to go to the arcade to represent

Alex's Arcade: #1-KoF XIII, #1 SSFIV AE, #1 MVC  just a thought lol
others

I think it's a great idea in theory, but only having 2 arcades with XIII is kinda defeating the purpose really (or at least 2 with ppl actually playing in it).  Furthermore, I know how the Cali-Mexicans feel about the Japanese sticks vs American sticks etc...  It's going to be a pain but I guess it won't hurt in trying.

I wonder how FFA is doing with XIII.  Now SSFIV and MvC3 on the other hand, I can totally see it happening.

Still wish we could have the NesicaxLive over here in the states, that's the only way I can see arcades remotely surviving after the console release; it forces you to train at home, but if you want your name on the rankings, then you have to play in the arcades.  I'm sure they can have a separate ranking system for console.

I was actually at FFA on Friday (for MBAACC though lol). To be honest their setup is kinda... lackluster, I guess? They put it in a Super Megalo cab with a Westinghouse LCD TV and computer speakers hooked up to it. No joke. COMPUTER SPEAKERS. It was next to a KOF 2002 machine, which was getting significantly more play. Some guy was complaining about how XIII was 50 cents a game. I only played one guy who was semi-competent. He had decent fundamentals but he didn't know how to utilize the new system mechanics properly (drive cancelling/HD). I asked if it ever got busy and he said normally it did on Fridays but not that day probably because of Easter weekend. My opinion is, don't go there thinking it'll be anything like AI/AA or Japan Arcade for XIII.

Someone needs to suggest to make it a quarter, I understand that's it's an expensive game, and they need an ROI--but after 8-9months of release nobody is going to want to pay 50cents.  If it was a quarter, and there was indeed some challengers, I wouldn't mind going up there once in a while on a Friday.  For 50cents, no thank you (especially for such a setup).  Is it at least Japanese sticks?

Should be JPN sticks, the set up he's describing is the old BBCS set up.

How is the turnout for the game at Japan Arcade? I haven't been there, and I don't hear much about it even after Ralph bought the place.

Sanwa sticks and buttons. Probably needs a bit of maintenance though. 1P balltop kept coming loose after every few matches and 2P buttons were, at times, unresponsive.

Yes.  As a reminder, Gunsmith is arriving at Alex's Arcade at 5:30 this Friday (4/29), please introduce yourself to him and make him feel home; he has already arrived in LA already and texted me.  Since it's going to be a bunch of casuals I was thinking that maybe we should all share one of our character with him since he doesn't have a chance to play XIII (unless he hops over to France...damn imagine not being able to play XIII), I figured he should get as much game time in.

Sounds good. I'll probably be there early just to get some practice in. Unfortunately, I won't be able to stay as long as I would like since i have family coming in that night, so I'll have to leave around 9PM.

We can put a win limit on the cab.

We could do that too, or randomize our games like last time.  Something different so Gunsmith would still have fun.

Public thanks for Nilcam for designing my Team CHINfinity avatar =)

Yeah Nilcam is awesome. If it were me designing it, the infinity symbol would most likely be the sack with a shaft sticking out.

Beshimi(oniwa Banshu)- Fatacon, according to the wiki:

Beshimi is the dart throwing specialist of the Oniwabanshu and by far the shortest of the team. He was defeated by Kenshin and later killed by Kanryu's Gatling gun. His head was buried in a mountain forest.

LMAO!!!!

P.S. Kane your avatar is kickass!!!!!!
