What old school FPS do you love and/or have been playing?

I played Duke Nukem Forever and I'll keep it short and sweet and say that I was vastly underwhelmed. So, I decided to play a bunch of old shooters that I love and others that I never quite got into.

The original Duke Nukem 3D: Still holds up. Hard as hell with a lot of variety in level design.

Shadow Warrior: The followup to Duke 3D. Really hard. Enemies take a ridiculous amount of damage before they die even in Normal difficulty. The grenade launcher is badass but does too much splash damage and it's very easy to hurt yourself when you hit an enemy who's even 500 yards away.

Quake 1: It's a love/hate relationship. I fucking love the NIN soundtrack and the level design. It's one of the few FPS that captures the look of an H.R. Giger painting. The problem is that there's little variety in weapons and enemies, and the bosses are ridiculously easy. The weapons come down to a Shotgun, then a double barrel, a Nail Gun, then a Triple Nail Gun, a Grenade Launcher, then a Rocket Launcher, and finally an electric gun. The weapons share ammo, so really you only have 4 weapons which isn't a lot for a shooter. The enemies are kinda' samey except for the Shambler which can easily kill you even on Normal difficulty.

I need to get Dosbox working in order to play Blood.

Is Team Fortress 2 old enough to be old school? Maybe not, but still that's the FPS that i've been playing more the past year, even though i haven't played it for months now.

For old school the first thing that comes to my mind is Aliens VS Predator 2 and the first Medal Of Honor (i think it was Allied Assault or something like that), both for PC, awesome games.

A variety of things: Bosses were easy, the very first boss in the game is the same as the end boss. Fairly short campaign. Underwhelming and linear gameplay. The whole game is mediocre which is probably worse than it just being bad.

First Medal of Honor came for original PlayStation. I remember playing the two-player deatmatch with my brother, but I didn't like it, because I lost all the time. Have to play it again someday.

I tried few months ago first Rainbow Six for PlayStation. Have to say one thing: It was bullshit.

Playing a bit of the expansion packs of Quake. Didn't like them. The maps were okay. But they had more of an action/adventure feel rather than Quake's Industrial/Medieval/Horror feel. And the music is nowhere near the level of NIN.

I really like Quake but my only complaints would be easy bosses and lack of a weapon variety.

Playing Zdoom ports of Doom 2 and Heretic/Hexen. It feels weird to play Doom with Mouse Look and being able to jump.

Replaying my favorite FPS of all time Blood. Amazing oldschool horror FPS, gory as hell, great weapons and enemies, levels are just challenging enough where you're not lost for 20 minutes looking for a key but they're not easy too.

Check it out, it's Five Bucks: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/one_unit_whole_blood

I started playing Half-Life (the first one) some time ago, didn't get too far , but the game is not bad.
I want to see why this game is so acclaimed, so i hope it gets better.
