*looks at a website* hmm... it seems people are already doing color hacks for XIII. There is even a Blue Mary color for Leona and a KOF2001 Andy color scheme.

Dunno if I can post links, but after seen these color edits, I really hope SNKP adds a Color Editor on KOFXIII.
SS Mina's color costume for Mai is cool too. Seeing the video a blonde Mai in purple colors cosplaying B.Jenet came to my mind :D  I would like to have color edit too, but I have the feeling we won't.. I don't know exactly why, but it's a feeling.

I think we must give some time to Atlus. I'm sure they are planning things. But we must keep in mind that SNKP is promoting the game in japan at the same time, so both companies have to coordinate their moves.

CvS2 Color Edit I made an all-orange Guile and named him Colonel Mustard.

Color Edit in XIII would be fun

Where I could found those color edits?

I think we're speaking about certain edits that could be discovered in a nice cafe. Watch out, it's run by a mad man!

;)

Mary-colored Leona is one I specifically wanted, so I hope SNKP officially makes that in, too. An Editor would be very nice... it was great fighting with custom colors on NGBC. You had the gameboy greyscale characters in NGBC, right sibarraz? Those were fun to see and fight!

sibarraz

Oh you still remeber those lol

Yeah, I'm learning how to do those silver costumes, but I don't know, at times felt not that natural, still I could try to do a better work

Now I'm making all the characters with white and blue colors, in honor of my local team, Now I will try to made all of the being with silver costumes

Still, I hope than XIII had color edit, one problem with ngbc is that if you change one color, you can totally screw the sprite, but it seems than in XIII there is a big use of colors, at least that's what I saw with all the color edits that SNK did

That was sometimes an issue in CvS2.  Certain colors were pretty much unchangeable since they screwed up the character's outline, or other unrelated areas.  With the new KoF sprites, though, I think the colors are designed specifically for easy palette swaps.  There was even an article a long time ago about how they can change a character's entire outfit simply by swapping palettes, which used Yuri's leggings as an example.  Raiden's bare chest would be another.

All things considered, a simple interface like CvS2's shouldn't be too difficult, I'd reckon.  As long as your custom palettes display on the other guy's screen, or else that kinda takes the fun out of it.

I never really got the appeal of color edits. Why do people love that so much??

Same reason why people like to muck around with customizations in Tekken and Soul Calibur.

For me, I actually like creating pixel art, and getting to manipulate colors on such well-detailed, well rendered characters is pretty cool.

Along with that, it's also fun to make team colors, or to try and replicate characters SNKP would never think to make reference to.

It'd be especially cool for XIII, where the character colors have been broken into multiple parts, to allow for "alternate costumes". Such versatility would allow for lots of creativity, great for those who'll take the modifications seriously.

One more note, NGBC's modification was fantastic. It allowed you to generate gradients between colors automatically, to make shading and highlighting much easier for those who don't want to get into elements of color theroy, or manipulate several colors to make a decent skin tone. It was cool to see them put some extra time and care into it.

Still, 2002um had a better color edit IMO, just because you could edit every single detail, even the projectiles

The game looks more like something that appeal to otakus

Even though I'm sure that at comic con there are tons of otakus
