Topic: Soul Calibur V

I've kind of been lagging on keeping up with this game.

Compared to all the previous ones, this one is really trying to switch things up. Meter management, parrying costing meter, supers; I don't think I've seen a purely 3D fighter take to 2D elements like this. I agree with some who say the supers might disrupt some of the flow of the game, but am curious about others who've played the game and say they won't go back to IV. Opinions of IV aside, they seemed happy about it.

I've got my eye on my usuals - Mitsurugi, Natsu (where't Taki go?) and Viola looks interesting too.

This game looks good after getting to check it out, but there's some blaring warning signals I'm getting from this:

- Less than 1 year in the cooker.
- And that the last two games weren't so great.
- Some atrocious character designs.
- Selling point being boobs.

SC2 was definitely taken seriously and SC2 fans really like SC5 apparently. Also, SC4 had some hype tourneys despite stupid shit like Hilde, and the community seems fairly large.

It's the same reason why SFxT is gonna be in EVO. I remember one point in time where a game had to be out for awhile before it showed up at EVO. Now, that philosophy is out the window. If money wasn't an issue, I'm sure the roster would be even more colorful...

Well, all I know is Algol's gonna be blasting up fools left and right... I hope to see Zas return... And I'm still mad about Li Long not showing up; don't gimme that Maxi bs either, 'cause their styles are totally different, especially since Li Long uses 2 nunchukus now, and still only has 1 stance (BT).
