Meaty 236A

  • Timing a 236A to hit the opponent as they're getting up is a good way to get back in and pressure the opponent.
    • Using 236A after 214C, a midscreen C Throw, and a midscreen D throw all give you an easy meaty 236A, which can be chased behind to gain significant screen space.
    • A spaced, midscreen 2D (both when hit raw and in combos) can give you a meaty 236A, making it a solid if potentially punishable autopilot option.

Safejumps

Definition and example of a safejump.

Reversals range from 4f startup at the fastest upward of 10f. If a safejump beats 4f reversals, it will also work against slower reversals.

After C Throw

  • 214C (whiff), Hyper Hop, h.D (6f)

After Corner C Throw

  • 214A (whiff), Hop, h.D (4f)

After D Throw

  • Forward Jump, j.D (5f)

After 214C

214C Ender safejumps are dependent on the height 214C connects at, the further off the ground the opponent is when 214C connects the more frame advantage you will have on the knockdown. There are a few common situations in which you can get an auto-timed safejump afterwards:

  • (in midscreen combo) 623C~AB, 214C, 214A (whiff), Hyper Hop, h.D (6f)
  • (in corner combo) 623C~AB, 214C, Roll, Hop, h.D (4f)
  • 632146A/C~AB, 214C, 214C (whiff), Hyper Hop, h.D (5f)|

After 236D

  • Jump, j.D (5f)

After Corner 236B

  • Hyper Jump, j.D (5f)

After Supers

Rock's oki after supers is lackluster, only granting strong safejumps on a single version of any of his supers. The rest have to be either manually timed, which is incredibly hard, or grant no oki at all.

  • Lvl 1 and lvl 2 Raging Storm (236236A/C and 236236AC) have an awkward amount of frame advantage, making an auto-timed safejump difficult to find.
  • LVl 1 Shining Knuckle (236236B/D)
    • In combo 214C, 236236B/D, Forward Jump, (land) Hop, h.D (5f)
    • Raw 236236B/D, 214A (Whiff), Hop, h.D (5f)
    • 236236BD, like Raging Storm, has an awkard amount of frame advantage, making an auto timed safejump difficult to find.
  • None of Rock's Climax supers give any oki whatsoever, they only have a miniscule amount of frame advantage.
