Gameplay Overview

Orochi Shermie is a hybrid zoning and pressure character that controls the pace of the game with fireballs, set ups, and some of the best normals in the game.
Pros Cons
  • Zoning: O. Shermie has access to a fantastic suite of zoning tools including her fireball, lightning traps, and long range normals.
  • Normals: O. Shermie is blessed with (mostly) the same normals as her regular counter part which means an amazing set of pokes, anti-airs, and pressure tools.
  • Lightning Kiss: A character defining move. Mugetsu no Raiun (41236X) works as both a neutral and set up tool. This move alone allows for keep away, midscreen super confirms, and meaty set ups.
  • Damage: O. Shermie can pump out damage very effectively. 3 out of 4 of her EX special moves can (realistically) be used as combo extenders giving her prolonged combos and efficient meter dumps.
  • Versatile: Between her amazing neutral and set up based gameplan O. Shermie can easily slot onto any team position. Building meter and chipping away as a point or deleting health bars with meter dump and MAX mode confirms as an anchor. There is no wrong way to play her.
  • Committal: Outside of 41236A, her fireballs and traps require a decent amount of commitment. She won't be getting punished every time she throws them out but good players will be able to take advantage of the long recovery of her 214 Fireballs and the prediction required for her 41236 Traps.
  • No meterless reversal: While not an O. Shermie exclusive weakness the lack of a meterless invincible move really hurts when opponents manage to get in on her.
  • Meter reliant: Without meter O. Shermie has trouble dealing damage or creating her scarier Lighting Kiss set ups, especially midscreen.
  • Large Gaps: O. Shermie's pressure suffers from a reliance on large gaps and resets to playing neutral due to her short blockstrings and lack of plus options. Those familiar with the match up can recognize and deny her the ability to enforce reliable pressure.

  • Orochi Shermie kicks twice.

  • Both hits are super-cancellable; a reliable way to confirm into her supers from range.
  • Chains from other light normals.
  • Good range and only -1 on block, making it useful in neutral.
  • A viable option to safely end blockstrings if they're out of 2A's reach.

  • Orochi Shermie bonks the opponent with a downwards chop.
  • Despite what the animation might suggest, this is NOT an overhead attack.
  • Fairly good button on neutral due to its range and arcing hitbox, which lets it act as a counterpoke AND an anti-hop measure.

  • Whiffs on crouchers, which makes it a little less valuable on neutral than f.C.

  • Orochi Shermie quickly stands up with a chop, as if trying to swat the opponent off the air.
  • This move reaches very high above Orochi Shermie, making it one of her best anti-air options.
  • Has better horizontal range than the animation suggests, which can lead to punishes at close range.
  • While it can whiff on crouchers at further ranges, it also forces stand on hit, which makes linking into 6B consistent.
  • Orochi Shermie's hurtbox extends during this move, making it prone to trading if timed poorly.

  • If Orochi Shermie juggles into this to end a combo, she gets a safe jump by hopping immediately.

Orochi Shermie does a forward-moving cartwheel kick, hitting the opponent on the way. A move with varying utility, depending on the version done.

Regular version

  • The regular version refers to when the move is done on its own.
  • Hits once and overhead.
  • Decent mixup option if you have the meter to capitalize on it, be it via Quick Max activation or super cancel.

Cancel version

  • The cancel version refers to when the move is done as a linker after normals (example: cl.C > 6B).
  • Hits twice, but loses the overhead property (i.e. it can be crouch blocked).
  • Only the first hit is special-cancellable. Both hits can be super-cancelled.
  • The forward movement makes her combos very consistent.

  • The C and AC versions have 2 hits, the first of which is close range only.
  • The first hit can match projectiles before throwing the projectile itself, similar to K' Ein Trigger > Second Shell (236P~6B).
  • 214C and 214AC Can be punished with Guard Cancel Roll if done on the first hit.
  • However, 214C/AC can be comboed from lights (very consistently from 1 hit of far B, which jails on block) and is safe midscreen. Fundamental when playing O.Shermie on point.

  • 214B allows for a meaty 41236D midscreen.
  • Can juggle into cl.A, Crouch A, cl.C or Crouch C in the corner.
  • This move gets strangely worse in the corner as it doesn't allow for a safe set up of 41236A even when canceling your juggled normal.

  • 214D is a hard knock down and allows for a meaty 41236A anywhere on screen.
  • No way to combo into 214D without meter.

  • 214BD is O. Shermie's primary juggle starter and combos from all cancelable grounded normals

  • All versions of 426P do not go away once active, even if O. Shermie gets hit.
  • 236236K/BD super can be easily juggled if the opponent jumps in on 426A, even on trade.
  • The A version can only be whiff punished with a low profile move (slides, Krohnen 2C, etc.), projectile invul moves, and projectile supers.
  • Opponent can guess roll through the A version to punish, but must be early.
