New KOF currently in development as revealed by SNKP job postings
SNK Playmore just updated their job listings page, and surprisingly they put up a large banner front and center in an effort to recruit for their “The King of Fighters” development team. The banner features what appears to be a 3D model of Kyo, with captions saying that “Kof is currently in development. Change the history of fighting games with your hands!”
Despite expanding by 30% year-over-year, SNK Playmore’s expansion seems to be still going strong. Multiple positions are being recruited for the new Kof project.
While SNK Playmore has not revealed anything concrete about the next Kof project, the next Kof seems all but certain to be in 3D from the job descriptions (as detailed below). The 3D Kyo model in the banner also supports this idea. However, though unlikely, they could simply be making 3D models first to convert into 2d sprites later, similar to how KofXIII was developed. In addition, the company also seems to be interested to bringing the new Kof title to the current generation of consoles, as they are looking for candidates with experience developing games on PS4 and Xbox One.
Here are a few interesting tidbits from the job descriptions:
– There are multiple openings for each of the following positions: game programmers, technical designers, and CG designers
– Game programmer main job description is to deal with 3D consumer game programming
– Technical designer job description includes providing technical support to high end graphics including constructing 3D camera angles, and working with engineers and programmers. Requires experience with 3D movies and other experiences working with 3D
– CG designer job description include constructing high end 3D character models, character animations, backgrounds, effects, user interface and concept art
– They are looking for people with experience developing games for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox360
This is not a Pachinko Slot game as the banner makes reference to the famed fighting game franchise and they have a separate section underneath the new kof project recruiting many positions for their Pachinko Slot division, in addition to a few opening for the mobile gaming division. Things are looking good at SNK Playmore!
